When my wife and I visited Aruba in 2004, we were told that most of the aviation fuel used by the allied forces in the ETO came from the refinery on Aruba. Perhaps the locals were exagerating a bit?

Geez, who got the Caribbean Command billets? Purely politicos' sons? I knew we had naval patrols [esp. around Martinique, since Vichy was compelled to offer support to German u-boaten...] in Carib, but actual Army installations? Totally fresh news to me! Thanks Ian...
