The Gemini coven is strange; they have to have a leader, the only way the leaders are chosen is by the twin merge. Now that Kai is back, he can merge with his twin (Liv and Luke can also still merge). As their dad said in the last episode. He does not want Kai to merge with Jo. Kai is a siphon; he has an advantage. He does not want Kai to win for obvious reasons.
