Love Languages

The first page is laid out quite well, IMO, though the second one is a little cluttered. There are a lot of elements going on that have to be made clearly readable; it might have turned out better if I had a stronger sense of color.

There was an alternate version of the second page that revolved around two archetypical “bro” types expressing the five love languages in archetypical “bro” type ways. That part of the joke was basically leaning into how dumb it was; it was overall just less funny, less unexpected, and more prone to people replying with canned joke responses of being like “and then the two bros have SEX LOL BRO-JOB hahaha (spare me….) There is one part I really wish I could’ve included.

In the alternate Bro-cut, the order would have been as follows:

1. Quality Time

[Bro 1 walks into Bro 2’s house] “Bro you ready to play some HALO 3???” (or something)

2. Acts of Service

Bro 2 continues, “I even added that mod you like that turns everyone into orks!” (kinda funny. Orks with a k is funnier. Not the main funny part)

3. Words of Affirmation

“Nice headshot bro!”

4. Physical Touch

[They fist bump]

5. Receiving Gifts

[Bro 3 arrives] “I BROUGHT DA BEEEER!”

Okay?

But then during panel, as Bro 2 is saying “Nice headshot bro!” it shows the Halo gamescreen, with the player looking down through the futurey sniper-scope at another player— who of course looks like an Orc wearing something like modified spartan armor— except for some reason the armor has like a huge cubic ass window

This is a loose depiction of the image I pictured in my head.* You only see it for that one panel, and it’s never explained why that’s part of the mod. I can’t explain it why, but it just feels right. The creators of Warhammer get it— even in a future setting, any setting really, orcs will always just be these absolutely gormless green fuckers who are dumb as hell and carry clubs around and have their big fucking moron John-Cena bubble asses waggling around like they don’t have a clue it’s the year 3050.

Of course, if I were to post this version, some ‘Thinks-They’re-So-Clever’ dip will try and argue that the joke here is that the assless mod was added additionally by Bro 2, because— you guessed it— omg they’re actually gay for each other hahahaha NO! Two men just being romantically interested in each other isn’t unexpected or funny. That would’ve been funny to a 2010’s CollegeHumor writer.

But future orc armor being shown only once, from behind, briefly, such that it makes the viewer go “wait— why is his green ass out”? Now we’re talking.

*Figuring out the exact ass framing specification that would make the butt armor the most funny would take additional work.
