After traveling for 10 days through the deserts of the southwest USA, I booked a suite at Palms Place in Las Vegas. This was quite a contrast to the small motels and tents we had stayed in previously. The next morning, Roarie was heading elsewhere, but we shot a couple of quick sets in the room with a magnificent view.
As a rare occurrence, I’m using a small battery-powered flash in HSS mode (the image was shot at 1/250 sec, f/4, and my fastest sync speed is 1/160) to slightly lift the shadows and create separation between the wall and the model.
And I really like this dark, austere look.
I remember it as being positioned directly above the camera with a very low output.
