This is one of the very first nude images I was happy with, along with two I’ve never really liked (2+3).
I was in Krakow, Poland, where I had arranged for four models to work for 3 to 4 hours over four consecutive days.
I’d sent some studio equipment and a background to the hotel in advance and turned the room into a mini-studio. If you wonder why, it's because I was unable to find nude models in Denmark, but Poland had plenty.
Lena was a dancer, and the first image of her posing next to a door with a light curtain is excellent. This is how it looked in real life.

For the others, I arranged a setup similar to two striplights, something I had observed other photographers do and wanted to attempt.
They are not exactly bad, but I don’t like them either. They seem fake, especially the second, where the spine is in the shade which rubs me the wrong way.
I’m glad I did them, though. Since I love the model and her physique, I like the implementation of the light and the way it accentuates her body. However, I still don’t like the overall result.
So it was easy for me to work out that I simply don’t like this kind of lighting.
The backlight in the first image, though, is an entirely different matter.
Evaluating what you do and trying to work out why something work, or doesn’t work can be a valuable lesson.
