In tone and structure, these two movies remind me a lot of german fairytales meets the hobbit. Very whimsical at some points, very epic and grand at others. I really like the costumes and the music, and I appreciate how the director just completely ignores physics and logic in fights if it serves the purpose of making the movie more fun :D But then after the goofniess you get sick dialogue like: "Tell me the truth, Devasena... In all these years... have you ever heard anyone even utter his name? On those long and dark nights, amid the desperate silence and in the clunk of your shackles...did you ever hear his name? [...] There are only two people in this kingdom that remember him. You and I. You remember him as you want to see him before you die. And I remember him as I want to kil him again, with my bare hands... but both our wishes will remain unfulfilled." -Bhallaladeva This was -from what I've heard on the internet- a massive cultural phenomenon movie in india, people went crazy for it^^ And I totally get it too, good fantasy movies are super rare, and we won't ever get a lord of the rings again, but this is nice :)
