small fix. "If that does satiate his revenge, he will track me down.” "If that *doesn't* satiate his revenge, he will track me down.”

2023-08-25 17:16:27 +0000 UTCthat is an easy fix.....i use this list when pulling names.... https://listophile.com/names/baby/boy/latin/ and those two sounded good together

2023-08-25 15:19:19 +0000 UTCyeah, writing the political intrigue stuff is hard (find out in the next two chapters). I am trying to keep the MC on the periphery of it all as he is not destined to save the Empire and overthrow the Emperor. Book two is titled a Mercenary's Life but that is still after he finishes his time in the Legion...still many chapters to go

2023-08-25 13:59:23 +0000 UTCwell, the title of the story is "A Soldier's Life" so I presume there will possibly not be a development outside of the legion. Thinking this way, I keep trying to imagine the plot developments that the author should do to try to get the MC out of this predicament in a credible way. I believe that at some point he will have to kill Durandus' brother (and maybe collect his essence!), but apart from this development, I'm in doubt which plot expedient the author will use to resolve this situation in Castille. Yes, because Castille will be very important for the MC in a storyline in which he remains in the legion.

2023-08-25 13:15:28 +0000 UTCYeah I think the author is painting himself into another corner plot wise. Once someone else knew his secret, even if they want to keep it secret, his only option was to run and start over elsewhere. "2 can keep a secret if 1 is dead" is always in effect. And his secret is too big for him not to be enslaved or killed.

2023-08-25 04:52:05 +0000 UTCThe situation is getting more and more complicated for mc in legion. If Castille is convicted, he will be transferred to some other company, or more likely, he will have to answer to Durandus's brother. Honestly, I see less and less reasons for him to stay in the empire, in fact it's just the opposite. Every minute that Erik remains in the legion and the empire, he is closer to being discovered and handed over to the Emperor. I think even for a more interesting development of the story it would be better if he ran away and became an adventurer or mercenary.
