Returning to life, slowly!

It really feels like slowly returning to life. Infection numbers falling. Returning to school on Monday. Both hubby and I got our first shot. Restaurants and shops could open again soon. And I have a glorious four days off to get some gouache painting done!

That was my first gouache landscape; in the second attempt, I tried to get a bit closer to my usual colours. Still very bright and colourful - it's so much harder to tone down paint in gouache, when in watercolour all you need is more water!

I've learned TONS painting these and feel ready for my first figure illustration. Hopefully this weekend!

Regarding merch!

I'm definitely going to use Patreon Merch. That's a service where I upload art and Patreon prints the merch and ships it to you. The biggest question is: what will the artwork be? I'd love to hear your thoughts. Definitely something exclusive that nobody but Patrons will get.

Patreon offers stickers, mugs, posters, tote bags, and shirts. (No calendars or enamel pins unfortunately.) Let me know your thoughts! Would you rather have an exclusive piece of artwork, or something nerdy/funny?

I would appreciate stickers, and the occasional tote bag, t-shirt, or exclusive art piece. (A caveat to the t-shirt: I’d be more interested if a women’s cut was an option.) I already have too many mugs, and since most of them are hand-made pottery I honestly wouldn’t use one that isn’t. Also, I feel it necessary to remind you that as much as stuff is fun, I’m not at all here for the stuff and never have been. I’m here to support you so that you can make art.

I'm pretty sure it works like this: I supply the artwork, decide which merch things I want, and assign them to tiers, so you pledge to the tier that gets you the merch you want. After a few months, I'd probably do a new piece of artwork so you can get that one on merch of your choice as well.

Do you have to chose what the print ends up on, or do you just have to chose the prints and the customer decides what they want (like some other print shops out there)? Exclusive artwork I'd probably rather have in a shape that goes on the wall, whereas nerdy/fun stuff would be great as a sticker, mug or shirt... but I can imagine that other people have different needs. ;)
