Arien - lineart

Super facepalm moment while working on the rigging of the ship:

Trying to find out how medieval rigging would have worked close up, and anywhere, really anywhere I search, after two sentences someone will say "go to the Schifffahrtsmuseum Bremerhaven and look at the medieval cog there."

The town I grew up in, which I literally visited three days ago. >_<

I'm ashamed to say that the last time I went to the Schifffahrtsmuseum was... in the eighties, when I was no older than ten. I remember the cog scaring the hell out of me. She was in a large room, kept in a huge tank of greenish, barely see-through water, which was supposed to kill germs and rot in preparation for full restoration, a process which was to take about twenty years. I remember my dad telling me, "You'll be twenty when she's finished!" I thought that was incredibly frightening. Both for something to sit in greenish water for so long, and for me to grow up.

My daughter, on the other hand, was beside herself with delight with this piece. "This is what I'll look like when I grow up? Wow, can't wait!" <3

Your daughter’s story: πŸ’•

Laura Michel

This is going to be amazing!

Gwendolyn

Beautiful drawing and an interesting story. I think something like that happened to me several times, when I realized that I had recently been somewhere where I should have paid attention to something that would prove an important piece of reference later. πŸ™‚

It's probably the only context, ever, in which anyone will tell anyone else to go to Bremerhaven. *snicker*

I think she's only mentioned once, or in one passage. She's the Maia maiden chosen to steer the Sun across the Void, in a vessel holding the last golden fruit of Laurelin.

I have lost track of where Arien fits into which story...

Steven Tryon

Beautiful, Jenny.

Steven Tryon

I love everything about this!

Litsen

Amazing! Both the lineart and your daughter's reaction. And I have to admit that I chuckled at the Schiffsmuseum story...

Lyra

I loved that too. I mean, she is a little sunshine anyway, with zero worries for the future, but isn't it beautiful if you can give children a clear image of what they might look like, and a tangible reminder that they're beautiful?

Jenny Dolfen

Love it! Including your daughters reaction :)

Liv Klein

Oh wow! This is already absolutely stunning. A definite must-buy for a print!

Anjuschka

Looove the flame motif in her dress and jewelry!
