Book club books: for May & June

Hey, Jeffrey here. As our Night Film discussion comes to an end, it's time to plan our next books. I've got two for you. I've not read either, but they come highly recommended from people I trust.

The first is WE DO NOT PART by Han Kang. Logline: "We Do Not Part tells the story of a friendship between two women while powerfully reckoning with a hidden chapter in Korean history." From a quick scan, this novel looks ghosty, heavy, and beautifully-crafted. Though, as an American, I think this novel might require some extra research (and assistance from the book club). I'm excited for the challenge.

WE DO NOT PART schedule:
May 19 - Pt 1: Chapters 1-3
May 26 - Pt 1: Chapters 4-6
June 2 - Pt 2: Chapters 1-4
June 9 - Pt 2: Chapter 5 through the end

Then after We Do Not Part, a palate-cleanser novella (only 70 pages): DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE by Juan Pablo Villalobos. Again, I haven't read it, but Ali Smith likes it, and that's good enough for me. Logline: a darkly comic chronicle of a delirious journey to grant a child's wish.

DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE schedule:
June 16 - The whole book (only 70 pages)
