How I record sound

I record sound with a blanket over my head because I don't have a sound proof room πŸ˜… I sit here for around 4 hours recording stupid jokes untill my neck hurts from te blanket pulling on my headphones...

Are there better ways to do this? Probably..

Some products you could check out at Thomann are the t.akustik Vocal Head Booth (https://www.thomann.de/nl/t.akustik_vocal_head_booth.htm, but that's €400 so bit expensive), or the "Fun Generation Micscreen Black" (https://www.thomann.de/nl/fun_generation_micscreen_black.htm). If you enter your VAT number and pay with PayPal (or credit card, probably), you don't have to pay the VAT directly and you can make use of "verlegde BTW" (aka, you save 20% on what it says it costs). For the mic screen there are many options (some even costing €15, but that looked too small), so you could also have a browse to see if something else is a better fit for you. This full category has loads of useful stuff: https://www.thomann.de/nl/overige_akoestiekelementen.html

So there are a few things you could try. First of all, there's these things you put at the back of your mic that block out any reflections (you often see them with singers in vocal booths). On the other side, it's possible to buy anti-reflective panels on stands, that would keep those sound reflections out. Those 2 solutions both will still be usable for when you move to your new house, as they're completely portable. Using a gate plugin on your microphone input could also help, or there are plugins that do an even better job filtering "outside noise" (I think iZotope RX does that). Final advice would actually be to use a dynamic microphone instead of a condenser, as dynamic is less sensitive. It may not record every tiny detail, but you're not a singer (I assume), so those details aren't as important. And dynamic microphones can still sound great. If you still want to cover yourself up, I'd recommend getting a 2-person blanket with the loosest/fluffiest stuffing you can find, and putting some sticks underneath so you get a tent. Better than holding it up with your own head.
