Björk - Hunter (Drum Pattern No. 73)

This is my drum pattern transcription in the style of "Björk - Hunter".

Update 2024/05/13: Part 4 reworked along with some minor adjustments in parts 2, 3 and 5.

Update 2023/07/14: To accompany our Drum Patterns Explained episode on the song we created an entirely new transcription that includes all patterns. The difficulty rating has been increased to four bunnies (five if you use a drum machine without microtiming). We also added a lot of notes and an appendix with helpful information.

In case you really want to follow the dark path and program the "unholy pattern sandwich" on a sequencer with scales and total accents we also included a corrected version of the old transcription which is now found in appendix C.

Difficulty rating: 🐇🐇🐇🐇

Sadly no, that's not possible. You have to use different patterns to store parts with different scales. I also had to do this for Led Zeppelin's "When the Levee Breaks" in our TR-6S review.

Is there a way to set the “Scale” (tempo) on a TR6/8S, within a variation (differing from the scale of the pattern)

Kryn Benski

Very rare bit of kit. Not much like it on the market at the time.

I actually spent an afternoon in the studio with Mark Bell from LFO around the time this was made. He played me demos from the album and I got a little insight into the gear they were living at the time. They were in love with the Latronic Notron. I imagine they were sequencing a 909 with it. https://reverb.com/item/4121968-latronic-notron-midi-step-sequencer?utm_source=rev-ios-app&utm_medium=ios-share&utm_campaign=listing&utm_content=4121968
