tom_atom - Dusky Sky (Drum Pattern No. 60)

tom_atom is a musician from Japan who creates a lot of wonderful chiptune and video game themed songs. Even if that isn't your cup of tea you should take a look at this pattern - it's a great collection of drum phrases and variations. The suggestion came from your fellow Patron Jaelights, who also uses this track as the intro to his podcast Null Point ("A show about nothing... well, that and the creation and play of games"). Jae and I were both curious about the drums, so here we go :)

While the original is obviously a chiptune, I adapted the drum pattern to regular drum machines (in this case the 909). I decided to leave the Toms out altogether because you'd need 4 to 5 Toms to make it sound right and let's face it, no drum machine has that many Toms - that's DAW territory. I substituted with some more Snare hits which I think works very well!
