Hey guys! Last week I announced that we needed more time to work on 1.12. It felt like the scenes weren't landing, which really bothered me.
Female Agent has always been my effort to make the RPG I want to play; so when I found myself playing the scenes in the testing environment and not really enjoying them, I knew I needed to go back to the planning stage and try something different.
I spent last weekend and Monday purely on thinking and sketching out new, better ideas. On Monday afternoon, I was pretty sure of the direction that we needed to take, and I sent this message to our lovely illustrator Victoria:

I wasn't sure she'd like it, because it's a big change...but, after some discussion, this was her verdict.

Crab has work...
Luckily, bitches...Crab is a workaholic. I spent the rest of this week almost entirely on writing,* which was extremely enjoyable, and I think the scenes are shaping up real nice so far.
1.12 will be an experiment, because when you click START GAME you'll jump straight into the main quest instead of continuing the Lifepath. Not having the background has forced me to write the scenes more generically than I'd like to; there were lots of little things I wanted to personalise based on Lifepath experiences, but wasn't able to.
That said, it's also been absolutely liberating to jump back into writing the main plot. This week on the project has been unusually lovely for me. The writing feels really great at the moment. The more I work on 1.12, the more I think you guys are going to be happy with it.
Okay, that's enough for now, because I don't want to oversell it. I'm mainly going to do moar writing next week, and hopefully the good stuff will keep coming up from out of the well...I'll post an update next Sunday.
