Voting system change
Added 2018-08-25 23:12:46 +0000 UTCUp to now, we've weighted votes in dev polls based on your support level: $1 Patrons get 1 vote, $5 Patrons get 5 votes, and so on.
After running several of these polls, I can report two things: firstly, the weighting doesn't swing votes. Opinions tend to split in the same way through the $10 tier as they do in the $1 tier. So $10 Patrons end up just cancelling each other out, instead of having a bigger impact on the votes. This is not working as intended.
Secondly, calculating the weighting has turned into a huge pain in the ass. Patreon doesn't export your support level with the poll results, so I have to manually cross check and adjust every vote. This takes up a lot of time that could be spent more productively (or at least less tediously).
Therefore, as part of the review of stretch goals and tier rewards, I've made the difficult decision to streamline the voting system. Voting in future dev polls will be restricted to $5 Patrons and above, who will all get just one vote in each poll.
This means taking away voting in dev polls from $1 Patrons. I'm not happy about withdrawing a reward, but – because the weighting system isn't working – the $5 and $10 Patrons are not being fairly rewarded right now for their extra support.
$1 Patrons will keep all the following benefits:
- Bra sizes bigger than DD.
- Back button.
- Multiple Kinks at startup.
I'm sorry to withdraw an existing reward. Please be assured this decision wasn't taken lightly, and was taken with a view to the long-term sustainability of the game and the community.
$1 Patrons, you are appreciated and of course your ideas and feedback will still be valued and listened to here and in the Discord channel. The aims of reörganising the voting system are to save dev time, and properly reward the $5 and $10 Patrons for their increased commitment.

It's been a while since I won any maths prizes but if the higher-tier votes are cancelling each other out now won't they still cancel each other out if you use some other system to give them the same weighting?

2018-08-27 11:09:22 +0000 UTCHaving the polls split will allow those higher tiers to see where their vote goes better, and to make use of that info to guide where they vote. Dismissing the idea instead of even giving it a try is the same as saying you don't want our vote at all, which I guess is what the post said in the first place, and your choice, as dropping my pledge will be my choice.

2018-08-27 03:46:38 +0000 UTCOh no!! Guess I'll have to pay $5 now haha. It seems like the best and most practical choice so of course I can't complain of the reward removal. Can't wait to the alpha version, hype is rising like USD price on Argentina

2018-08-26 20:07:21 +0000 UTCThanks FOB. It would probably have been better to throw this out with some warning. Hopefully the tiers are stabilised now, and we won't have to go through this again.

2018-08-26 20:07:04 +0000 UTCI'm really sorry to have taken away a reward, and I promise that I'll always listen to feedback here and on the Discord.

2018-08-26 20:06:24 +0000 UTCThanks Marcmad! This is a good idea, but I don't think it would fix the problem of the higher tiers not having more influence on the votes.

2018-08-26 20:05:43 +0000 UTCIt's fine, especially because it saves you precious time. If I can make a suggestion though, ask for feedback to the low tier guys too: sometimes you could get good ideas in return ;)

2018-08-26 08:49:17 +0000 UTC$5 tier should only count for 4 votes.

2018-08-26 07:49:42 +0000 UTCThat everything had to be converted first manually, I did not know, and yes, something takes time. Therefore I can understand your decision, but I also understand the opinion of the 1, - € Patreons to be heard. In another game I already know the system proposed by Marcmad and I think it would be a good option to listen to each supporter as well as to minimize the time needed, as the respective supporters are separated and the calculation can be simplified very much. You already did the change. I think it would also have been advisable to put this as an announcement on 01.09.zu and before the individual opinions to hear.

2018-08-26 07:21:47 +0000 UTCI vote NO to this change. Marcmad has a great idea that you could even expand and have three polls run, one for each tier, where the $1 tier is worth one vote, $5 tier five votes, and the $10 tier five votes, because higher tiers could also vote in the lower tier polls.

2018-08-26 06:19:32 +0000 UTCWhy not do the same poll twice? One for the public and one for $ 5 and more, since they are divided It will be much easier for you to calculate and you will also have a better sample of comments. It's your choice in the end, but I think the opinions of everyone are important, even more for a free game.
