Getting my body 3d scanned at my local gym
Added 2023-04-02 16:18:25 +0000 UTCLast weekend I wanted to get my body scanned after I had talked to a friend who does cosplay. He suggested finding a gym that has a body scanning machine and that way you can get an accurate image/scan of your own body. The scan does come in a bit messy so I took it into zbrush, cleaned up the topology and created a mirror. By doing so I had a cleaner mesh that was easier for the computer to work with and being able to have my body split into 2 parts makes it easier to model what I want. The whole reason I wanted to scan my body was to be able to sculpt padding on myself and get a pattern out of it. We will go over pattern making soon, since I will be doing a write up on how I do so with a plush.
My local gym that had it was HitFit, these gyms exist around the US. But just look for gyms that have the Fit 3D machines.
Most gyms will either do it for free or small a fee of about $20. I did this while wearing a sports bra and leggings. Most of these machines tend to be in their own room so you scan your body without others having to see what you are doing (which is nice if you want some privacy).
Overall I recommend this, even if you are just using parts of your body. For example my head scan will help me a lot making heads that fit my own face very closely.
