FaceMask Print Success - What I learned from this

About 2 weeks ago I had been going from print to print but not having any of the prints that were successful until now. I learned a lot from "support thickness/amount" and angle of the print itself so it sticks well to the print base.

I later learned that not all resins are made the same and some are way better for printing large/heavy prints.  I am currently using your run of the mill resin (mostly mixed a few since I am trying to use whatever is left over from my older resins) but will be testing the stronger resin soon and report back how much easier it is to print with that instead.

I was able to get it to stick to the base without an issue at this angle but the biggest problem was the supports leaving marks on the outside. Since this mask is supposed to be sort of battle worn it did not bother me as much but definitely want to angle it differently to get a cleaner overall look. I did take the "skate" off the base and just let the supports create their own tiny skates separately attached to the build plate. When I was creating a full skate on the bottom to hold all the model it eventually gives out and falls into the vat. I did print this mask "slower" to make sure that all the parts were cured correctly and it had less chance of it falling in. Like any large build it takes a lot of testing and seeing what works best for you.

I went ahead and sanded the areas where the supports left marks then got my dremel and started cutting into the mask. I wanted to create deeper cuts into the mask so went ahead and used my engraving bits to create the look I wanted. Technically you don't need to do any of this, I should of just made the details deeper in the model to avoid having to do this.

Overall I am really happy with the results, are they perfect? not quite yet but getting there. I plan to re print the model in a different position with the new settings and compare to this current mask. I am going to go ahead and finish this mask, paint it and see how I like it being worn. Learned a lot from this and working on masks that I will be able to provide to everyone here eventually.
