A New type of Fursuit Head Style (Brainstorming)

Been wanting to try making a suit head that follows my art a lot closer than I currently have made. Decided to start on this project and see where it takes me with my current knowledge of zbrush. I know I can sculpt pretty much any shape to fit a human head and have a pretty decent idea of where to place eyes, nose and breathing areas for the sculpt. In the past creating a sculpt that was accurate in size was a struggle but I no longer have to worry about that. I have loved the way 3D animated characters have their eyes modeled. Specifically characters from movies like Pixar and Disney animation and really want to attempt doing that with this type of sculpt, while still looking like my art.

The idea is to create the head and print it in a few pieces to create the look I want. Print the ears to make a mold out of foam, print the nose separate so I could print a clean version in resin (or regular FDM print but use xtc to create a smooth look but keeping it light) and the eyes so they can be made in a few parts. The eyes in particular I want to print the eye dome itself that houses the iris and white of the eye while the pupil is a cut out to see out of. The pupil would be a darker tint lens you can easily see out of. The eye itself would be 2 parts, as the outer part would have a transparent lens that would go over the eye. So technically I want to try 2 types of eyes. Once where they have a lens over the eye so the eye looks like a real eye and has extra depth. Then do another type of eye which has the same shape but the iris and pupil are fully cut out and replaced with mesh so you see out of the full section of the eye. Mouth, I want to open up a bit and sculpt a jaw sets that will click in both top and bottom. Eye ducts will be usable and will provide another area to see out of.

Ideally the head will be like a puzzle piece where you can pick and choose parts to make what you want. Be it change the nose, ear type, eye color and so on. I want to make it a semi generic canine that can be made into a few critters that fit a similar look. The head would be mounted on a foam backing/balaclava so it is pretty comfy overall.

The final version of the head would be resin casted to be able to create duplicates, but the first version of the head from start to finish to prove the idea works will more than likely be printed elements.

Unsure if we will provide DIY versions that are completely un assembled but we will provide versions that have eyes, teeth, tongue and ears put on and ready to fur on a base. That way it would be a lot easier for people to purchase and create their own.

Currently working on the model and will continue posting progress as I update the model.

I want to test this style on a new costume I want to make for myself specifically to test this look. Granted the first test head I will be doing will be more of a generic dog but the head will be able to be made into a few critters. If all goes well expect to see this boy taking shape in the future. Quick first sketch of Giovanni.
