I've been thinking...
Added 2019-09-04 12:00:02 +0000 UTCOn lowering the goal amounts.
See, when I made the goals, I hadn't taken into account that the amount displayed on the page is what's left after Patreon takes its percentage.
On the one hand, I get it. On the other, well, it means the amount pledged can reach $100, but it won't be enough to reach the goal due to how things are set up. That's why I'm thinking of lowering the amount needed to reach each goal to reflect that.
At the very least, I'm going to lower the first two goals while keeping them as multiples of five.
I'll figure out the rest later. I'll say right now that I'll never increase the amount needed to reach a goal.

Nothing to feel guilty about. All patrons are set up like this, and part of the process of pledging is knowing that some of the pledge is going to the site over the creator.

2019-09-05 17:00:33 +0000 UTCI got to admit I'm surprised. I wasn't expecting to get told not to do it. I'm not really worried about visibility right now. If anything, I was not expecting the patreon to be doing nearly this well. I thought the amount pledged would barely reach like 20-something by the end of the year. That said, I'll give your suggestions some thought before making a decision. Also, 'head and shoulders'? You're going to make me get a big head if you say stuff like that.

2019-09-05 01:03:56 +0000 UTCTo clarify, it is not that I think they're unreasonable so much as I feel it is a little cheap for the amount you guys pledge to be different from the amount displayed on the page. Makes me feel a little guilty.

2019-09-05 01:00:36 +0000 UTCI don't think your goals were unreasonable but it's up to you. If you're wanting to write more you could just go ahead and release extra chapters, without actually committing to consistently making more chapters.

2019-09-04 15:05:50 +0000 UTCI personally think you can try a different approach before you drop the goals targets. The way I see it here is that you've got a story and quality writing here that is leaps above what the other writers have on the market is right now, with the exception of some of the top pieces on RR. However, your slow release rate has hampered your visibility to people. You've also dropped out of the trending list on RR. So. You can try and go post a bit on the forums as self advertising. Or try writing a few more chapters as a mass release to get some attention. Or even increase the patron rewards per tier or drop the patron pricing to attract more subscribers. Reducing your goals doesn't really do anything apart from reducing the money to you before you commit to more work. If you're keen and OK with that, I'm not against it. But I just don't think its in your favour.
