It was an amazing show with crazy performances. They even had a sports day half way through to give the guys a break from the competition. I loved every minute of the show, from meetings, getting to know groups I didn't know, & performances.

So Skz lost the boy to death they were doing everything to get him back they broke into heaven, you see Binnie battling up the stairway to heaven. where they were rejected and captured, felix being dragged by angels. but they werent giving up if heaven wouldnt help they would make a deal with hell, devil and the demonic felix. so the deal was they sacraficed their own life (the heart) to bring the boy back from the dead. thats why they all drop dead but the boy is back at the end. Every performance during kingdom in beyond amazing each week they were given a challenge and they never disappointed! It was filmed LIVE. there are also behind the scenes you can watch. Mayfly was a super group during the show the groups were split into two teams they had a rap,dance,vocal challenge. Mayfly was SKZ, BTOB and ATEEZ those 3 performances are a must!

You were right that they sacrificed themselves, but it wasn't in the literal "I'll be your man" way - it was more of a sacrifice for love, regardless of who it's for. Focusing on the little boy, you'll notice that at first he's in all black, so they're sacrificing themselves to save him from "hell". After placing the heart in the statue's hand and the boy comes back out, you'll notice that he is now in all white and the statue is gone. He has been saved. That's the (very) brief version of it, and yeah, like Nuala Seamus wrote, this was their lowest-ranking performance of the whole show. I think it's because it was just too intense for the "professional" Korean judges and they just couldn't tolerate the imagery, but it has gone down as one of their most iconic performances nonetheless. Oh, and yes, the "disappearance" was all one take. There's a behind the scenes video that shows how it was done. (｡•̀ᴗ-)✧

Of course SKZ took it literally and brought the child back to life through their sacrifice after battling heaven and hell. It was an iconic performance. LOVED your reaction.

I saw this for the first time and thought that was deliberate, and it was actually my favorite part of the song because of how emotional it sounded. When I learned it was a mistake, I was so shocked! Then learning about why Hyunjin wasn't there, and about their rings.... and how it was their silent protest, and way of letting STAYS know they would do whatever it took to bring him back... ugh!

If youre keeping to just performance videos - I would say Stray Kids god's dududu, any mayfly performance (a collaboration between groups), oorrr Ateez wonderland are all stand outs from the show!

Me too! and IN's moment was a big part of that. It felt raw and real. I hope someone at some point along the way has told IN some version of that.

I listen to high res music, so uncompressed, 16 or 24 bit, with high end headphones, and Stray Kids' songs in general really shine with that kind of fidelity. It's very upsetting to me that we don't have these Kingdom songs available. We even saw them do an actual recording in some of the behind the scenes footage, at least for the Du-du-du mashup, so we know recordings exist!

The show saw a weakness and deliberately exploited it, and sometimes I wonder if the judges were so harsh because they knew that the drop in standing combined with the footage about IN meant high drama and good ratings...which just infuriates me even more. IN didn't deserve any of that, and like all of the boys, he's hard on himself, so the extra criticism was really unnecessary and over the top. I watched Kingdom as a brand new baby Stay myself, and it's definitely one of the reasons I love them all so much. It's also why I started listening to Ateez (that Wonderland stage remains one of the most iconic performances in all of k-pop.) It just burns me that one of the reasons is because the show gave a disproportionate amount of monetary support to certain stages over others. Again, IMO to create drama. Luckily, the groups themselves on this were so wholesome and amazing it eclipses the shenanigans of the producers and judges. I need more k-pop groups performing together and reacting to one another's stages like this in my life.

Seeing their hard work, their recording scenes, and just the way they interact with each other is one of the many reasons why I'm a stay now. They have so much range and really I think it's such an amazing surprise to new stays when they see what our boys are capable of. Side effects x God's Menu is what made me listen to Side effects (one of my top skz songs) and dive into their older discography. The judging for this performance was actual trash, I still consider it one of their top performances. You kind of filled me with rage by reminding me of what happened with I.N but it's all good now. It's all good.

2024-02-29 16:13:58 +0000 UTCThis is one of my all time favorite performances by them, ever, and it kills me we don't have a version of this song from them released somewhere. Okay, I see no one else has commented with with context for this specific performance, so I will add it here. First, Kingdom was a kind of competition show between groups. But really, it was so good and so wholesome as the groups watched each other perform and commented. I recommend ALWAYS watching the versions of these songs on YT that have the cuts to the green rooms with the groups watching, because the reactions from them are 100% worth it. (There are two versions of every stage from this show on YT...one WITH those reactions, and one without.) But, as others have said....Ben this entire show is SO GOOD. It's literally one of the best, most wholesome things that's ever been done in k-pop, minus the stupid voting and judging that honestly didn't even need to be part of it. I highly, highly recommend you watch the whole show (it's on Viki) and react to it. It's important to note that right after Kingdom began, false school bullying accusations came out against Hyunjin, and JYP pulled him from being able to perform while they investigated. This was very hard on the whole group. No one knew what would happen, and none of the guys were even allowed to mention Hyunjin's name in interviews and BTS footage for this show. So Hyunjin is missing from nearly all of these performances. This song is a BTOB song. This week, groups had to perform a song from another competitor, and Stray Kids chose BTOB. (The BTOB performance of SKz Back Door is also iconic, IMO, and the Kids reaction to their seniors performing their song is so sweet!) The original is a love song, but Stray Kids changed the meaning to be about sacrificing everything to bring back a missing boy...who is Hyunjin. The entire song, the boy in it represents Hyunjin and that they would do anything to bring him back. One thing they did was go and make rings for every group member, including Hyunjin, and all of the members wore them during this performance. Hyunjin's is draped on the statue of the boy in the beginning. You can see it as well as Han's ring when he approachs it. This song and performance was deeply meaningful for our boys, and it shows. Also, I will never, NEVER tire of the other idols' reactions to Han singing in this. Or to Changbin's rap at the end, which covers what TWO rappers did in the original. Also of note. This song was higher than their usual range, which is why Han was assigned so much singing. They needed him for those high notes. He actually rested his voice for a whole day before this performance to prepare for it. And I.N. was assigned a high part at the end that our maknae really stressed and worried about. Right before the performance, Han, who could see and knew how worried IN was, told him not to stress, that he could just (I can't quite remember, but I think he said he could just go into falsetto if he didn't think he could hit it. I'm not a singer, but it was something like that. Hannie was trying to help IN relax and make it not a big deal.) Anyway, IN, did not hit that note in the performance. His voice cracked. IMO this only added to the emotional depth of the performance. Certainly, if I hadn't watched and known about it because of the show, I would never have realized listening that it wasn't intentional. But IN was devastated. The show's producers pulled him aside IMMEDIATELY after the performance before the members could even talk to him to ask him about it, and he cried. He really felt he ruined the entire stage. There's a clip of Chan comforting him off camera that is so sweet, but IN still carried it. Later that night back at the dorms, everyone was in watching TV and IN was in the kitchen, and he just broke down. Everyone came rushing in "What's wrong, what wrong?" This performance was (IMO) unfairly judged by the judges, and dropped our boys from first place down to last (I think -- it was a huge drop). IN thought it was his fault and sobbing, kept telling them "It's my fault, I ruined it." He is super embarrassed about his reaction now, but at the time he was just devastated, and I will never forgive those producers and judges for how they treated our boy. IN is one of the group members who just does not cry easily, and to see him take that into himself and be so upset really hurt. It might have crushed another singer and made them quit, and that makes me so angry. But luckily, IN is surrounded by seven amazing friends who supported him and comforted him.

They do collab performances... rap unit, dance unit and vocal unit. The vocal unit of SKZ, BTOB and Ateez is highly regarded as the BEST performance EVER on Kingdom. They perform IU's Love Poem. You REALLY have to watch the series... preferably with us here on Patreon!

Each episode is extremely long and the voting system is ridiculous, but the performances and the lead-up to them (where they show how they come up with the song and story behind the performances) are really good. I only knew Stray Kids when I watched it but I'm an Atiny now and listen to The Boyz, Ikon, SF9, and BTOB because of this show.
