I'm gonna smooth it down with isopropyl alcohol once I'm getting close to being done with getting details in, bake and paint and paint my own kind of pantine and wax it.

2024-09-18 09:05:26 +0000 UTCI made a wire armature but I did end up making it larger and adding more and more clay. At this point it's getting to real refinement of the muscles and details! For like the penis and tail and ears horns etc. Anything that is extending outwards has bamboo skewers helping it up. I'm using pvc clay which is very nice because it doesn't dry but it's quite pricy. And this sculpture is already 4 and and a half lbs so far or so.

2024-09-18 09:03:23 +0000 UTCPicture 3 and 4 really caught my eye. The smooth, stylized approach is just as evocative as the more detailed versions, but with a bit of what might be a "Stargate" twist to their design.

I took precisely one pottery course during my university years (I expected the wheel, but it turned out to focus mostly on hand shaping), so I know that getting clay to look like something specific can be tricky. I also know that long projections (like, say, a phallus or horns) have a tendency to warp or break off during the drying phase or in the kiln. You made your sculptures look undeniably like big, beefy male things with muscles and bulls' heads and even got them looking ancient and primal in the process...or sleek and stylized. Both options rock.
