...
The Sleeping Charm successfully hit Gajeel, and his eyes immediately began to droop.
However, as a Dragon Slayer wizard, Gajeel's body had dragon-like traits, granting him high resistance to magic. Coupled with his immense internal magic power and strong will, his eyelids barely shut before snapping open again.
George, unfazed, swung his wand repeatedly.
"Stupefy! Stupefy! Stupefy!"
One Sleeping Charm after another stacked relentlessly. After more than a hundred charms, even Gajeel couldn't resist and finally succumbed, falling into a deep slumber.
No matter how high someone's magic resistance, as long as they weren't entirely immune, sheer quantity could still overwhelm them.
Even the highly magic-resistant dragons in the Harry Potter world could be subdued if a hundred wizards cast Sleeping Charms simultaneously.
When George landed with the unconscious Gajeel in tow, Levy and her team still hadn't recovered from their shock.
"George... you actually subdued Gajeel of Phantom Lord!"
To them, Gajeel was an S-Class wizard of Phantom Lord—a powerhouse. George, on the other hand, was known in their guild primarily for his miraculous repair magic, not his combat abilities.
Even Erza and the others only knew that George's magic recovered quickly and was highly supportive in nature.
When they took down Eligor, Erza was the one who carried the fight. George had only managed a lucky strike when Erza was nearly drained of her magic.
But today, George had defeated Gajeel like a father disciplining his child, leaving him utterly unable to retaliate. The battle had lasted just two or three minutes.
How could they not be stunned?
Had they not personally faced Gajeel, they might have dismissed his reputation as mere exaggeration.
But moments ago, they had experienced the iron dragon's strength firsthand. All their attacks were effortlessly countered, leaving them in fear of the overwhelming gap in power.
"It's not what you think. I'm not that strong; it was mostly luck," George said with a laugh, waving his paw dismissively. He wasn't being modest—his abilities just happened to counter Gajeel perfectly.
Facing Gajeel was like Magneto versus Wolverine; the matchup heavily favored him.
Gajeel's entire arsenal revolved around metal, tied to his Dragon Slayer magic. If he had studied any other type of magic, George wouldn't have been able to suppress him so easily.
Had it been Natsu instead, George wouldn't have achieved the same result.
"Really, I'm not lying. I have a special magic that targets metal, and he just happened to walk right into it," George explained with a helpless shrug when the group still looked skeptical.
"Anyway, let's take him to the dormitory and have Mirajane contact the master. We need to figure out what to do next."
This was no longer a simple matter of destroying an empty guild. Phantom Lord's ace wizard had attacked Fairy Tail members. If George hadn't intervened, Levy and her team might have met a terrible fate.
This blatant violation of the Council's rules, caught red-handed, was impossible to deny. Knowing Makarov's personality, George was certain this wouldn't be resolved as peacefully as earlier in the day.
"You're right! We can't just let this go!" Levy said, puffing her cheeks in anger. She jumped up and slapped the unconscious Gajeel.
"Ouch! His face is so hard!"
Unfortunately, the slap hurt her more than it hurt him. Gajeel's body, like iron, made her hand sting as if she'd struck a metal block.
The team of three and one cat, carrying their captive Gajeel, stormed toward Fairy Tail's dormitory.
To Levy and her companions, the guild was like their home, and the master and members were family. Facing injustice, they naturally sought their elders for support.
South Gate Park wasn't far from Fairy Tail's dorms. In less than ten minutes, they arrived.
"Jet, Droy, go to the men's dorm and get Natsu and the others. Levy, head to the women's dorm to call Mirajane and Erza. I'll wait here," George instructed. The group quickly split up and darted into the dormitories.
Moments later, shouts of outrage echoed from both buildings as Fairy Tail's mages learned of the attack on Levy's group by a Phantom Lord wizard.
"Saru, you're the fastest. Head to Lucy's place and notify Erza. I'll go find the master. We may have a big operation tonight," Mirajane said.
Her usual gentle demeanor was replaced by rare fury. As she finished speaking, demonic wings unfurled from her back, and she flew toward the East Forest.
"So, the rumors are true," George mused as he watched her leave.
George had overheard plenty of guild gossip during lunchtime, including stories about Mirajane.
One of the most shocking rumors was that the sweet, timid Mirajane had once been an S-Class wizard, as strong as Erza.
She had reportedly been a rebellious young mage who constantly vied with Erza for dominance. Her magic wasn't the transformation spells she commonly used now, but the fearsome Satan Soul, a type of Take Over magic that let her merge with demons to fight.
The change in her personality, they said, stemmed from the tragic loss of her sister during a mission. Since then, she had stopped fighting with Take Over magic, devoting herself to support roles instead.
But the magical power she displayed in that brief moment of anger confirmed that her strength wasn't just hearsay.
"So this is Phantom Lord's Gajeel? He attacked Levy? When he wakes up, we'll beat him so badly even his guild master won't recognize him!"
After Mirajane's departure, Fairy Tail's mages glared at the unconscious Gajeel, their fury palpable.
Had it not been for their pride as mages, they might have already pounced on him.
Levy, loved by many of the male mages for her cute personality, was particularly dear to the guild.
"Levy, I can't believe you guys managed to defeat Phantom Lord's ace, Gajeel. It seems your strength has improved a lot!" one mage said, his buck-toothed smile filled with admiration as the group began to settle down.
