12/15/22 Special Question from patrons

Hey Patrons,

This week we’re exploring a new question submitted by a patron

Here’s the link to the discussion:

QUESTION: “You have hinted that dream figures that the dreamer is afraid of or finds dangerous usually represent the unowned, shadow parts of self. Does that mean nightmares, on the whole, are that? Or do they play other roles in the psyche as well?”

Let us know what you think.

~ Joseph

This is a great breakdown of the nature of nightmares. Thinking about nightmares as something ordinary helps to take a level of fright away from the experience. The idea that distressing dreams and elements of dreams introduce new information we refuse to assimilate really depotentiates the fear - the thing that always stops the inquiry! So, thank you, really changed my feelings about nightmares!
