It was a full moon, Regulus and James fell asleep in the shore, peacefully unaware of what night this was. Every full moon, a mermaid that’s on mainland, it’s changed to their human form for the night. So them being totally unaware of this, woke up in the dead of the night, to totally different bodies.

At first they were confused, then they were worried because they couldn’t get back to the castle for the night and they had to stay here for a whole night. Then they were curious of their own forms, you see, mermaid people don’t see the gender you are born with, you just are part of the ocean. But here, something was different between the both of them.

They were curious, discovering their new parts of a body they never saw. And so they started touching, and feeling, and well… human nature is human nature. Regulus had heard from Sirius before he left that the wonders of being a human were one’s he never experienced before in his life, that he couldn’t ever explain them…. But now he knew, they both knew. And this moment may have been the reason their feelings were clearer for both of them.

Needless to say, they never miss a full moon ever again.
