Millions of people live in Kanto, Light being a 3-7% chance is massive.

2024-12-24 07:11:57 +0000 UTCI think you misunderstand Christian theology. We don't believe that God will come and take out all the sinners. There's going to be a massive battle where Jesus takes charge of His army and casts Satan into the lake of fire. After that, everyone will appear before the judgement seat of Christ and stand judgement for what they've done. Those who place their faith in Christ will have their name written in the book of life, and those who don't will be cast into the Lake of Fire which is the second death. It has nothing to do with God showing up and wiping out the sinners, because we ALL are sinners. There is nobody that is good but God. All of us have fallen short of His glory. If Light was trying to be God, then he'd just be killing everyone since everyone is guilty of sin. But of course that's taking punishment in the human perspective. God is patient and His mercy abounds. He waits and waits and gives us many chances to repent and come to Him so that He *doesn't* have to judge us. If God killed us the moment we sinned, none of us would live past 5 or so.

They understand that Light wants to be the God of a “new world”. The show makes that very clear, even for first time watchers.

Even a board certified psychologist reacting to this show would make the same statements, because it’s a reaction. Your point is moot because, like Oak said, Light is a narcissist with a god complex. I understand your comparison to a Christian god but otherwise they have not missed his characterization.

All I was saying is he is trying to become a god a god Does not care who it kills and it passes judgment on thos as he see fits so I'm confused on why they seem surprised everytime he kills or threatens someone who isn't a horrible criminal

2024-12-23 21:08:38 +0000 UTCIt’s not explained super well in the anime, but a condition of the Deathnote is that the method you kill someone with isn’t allowed to cause the deaths of anyone else. So if you write the name of a pilot flying a plane full of people, he can’t just nosedive the plane. He’d have a heart attack once it would only cause his death. In the same way, you can’t control someone’s actions to kill someone else before dying. That’s why Light is pissed last episode and calls it inconvenient. It’s actually a very smart move on the authors part. Otherwise Light could just build up an army of suicide bombers and take out anyone he wants, name and face be damned. Edit: the car crash examples you guys mentioned don’t violate this, because only the person written in the Deathnote is dying. The random person driving the car that causes the accident doesn’t die (or if they would, the Deathnote would make it happen a different way).

And light is not the villain he is the main character he is the good guy of his story because its his story at the end of the day
