You know what I loved about this movie. It was hard to watch, it didn’t romanticize war. And it didn’t give all the pro civil war succession type people something to love. It just showed it for what it is. A shit sandwich with people killing their neighbors for literally no other reason than hatred. Which is exactly what it is in real life.

A lot people don’t realize how similar Texas is becoming to California. With the inflow of people into it. Just give it a decade it’s coming

MJ Eid

Yes, that word right there “story”. If there was actually a somewhat substantial amount of story then it might’ve been a decent film. I don’t care about gun fights unless it’s crucial to a story element. Why not give us some background on how the extremely unlikely alliance of California and Texas created the western forces and somehow allied with another extremely unlikely alliance with Florida? Just…nothing…here’s pictures and more pictures.. want story? Nope here’s more pictures and pictures driving the same point over and over.

Good feedback

I like the descriptions. Definitely for movies I would never check out (which is rare being a bit of a cinephile), so I appreciate the descriptions a lot, I’ll pretty much watch anything the guys watch, but the descriptions def help with movies that I may have thought “yeah, not for me”. Typically the descriptions confirm that thought, don’t have to open another tab to do my own research. If you don’t like them, it’s pretty easy to just not read them.

So it wasn't what you expected so its bad? Did you want a typical good guy vs. bad guy war film during a modern day civil war? Really? Would that have been the most interesting way to tell the story? Because that sounds terrible to me.

shaneth138

I totally disagree about the lack of character development. This wasn't a 7 episode Netflix show. This wasn't about the characters. Not everything has to be about the characters we follow but more about what we see through their lens no pun intended. I didn't need their back stories at all.

shaneth138

Stacy, thank you for giving this perspective. I never thought of it like that. 🤜🤛

Badd Medicine

That is a VERY fair point, and I totally get that. Hadn't really considered it, because I'm also a guy who is totally cool with spoilers in general! Ha!

Jeff K

My only critique of the description/reaction is that for me, part of the allure of watching the reaction is not knowing in advance how you will react and taking that journey with you. The descriptions tip your hand and make it a completely different watch along experience. I try not to read them because I don’t want to know in advance how you felt about the movie.

Stacy Lymber

He also played Pablo Escobar in Narcos, and he was INCREDIBLE in that show. (I have not watched this reaction yet because I haven't watched the movie, so I don't know if they mention that.)

Jeff K

Best part of this movie was the last fight sequence. They did their research on realistic infantry tactics. However, some things overlooked like the AH-64's chaingun firing like a minigun. But I'm just nitpicking.

TerraZetzz

I forgot to say I loved your reaction and review of it 😂

EMB

Never apologize for any long post 🤜🤛😁

Badd Medicine

I apologize in advance for my long post 😉 I think it was intentional how little we knew about the characters. My interpretation is that the story wasn't so much about the characters, but the nature of war, or more specifically civil war, secession, insurrection. There was no glory or triumph in the film, just punctuations of photos that looks eerily similar to those from coups , civil wars, and revolutions around the world now and in history. On another note, Texas and California are the top two states in GDP, so economically it would be feasible for them to ally and rival a US government they both considered illegitimate, provided other states allied with them or became neutral. All we know is that the president is at least in their third term, meaning the 22nd amendment was violated or removed. There was a mention of the dissolution of the FBI, which I don't see sparking war. I think it's a bad idea, but I don't think less government oversight in law enforcement would spark rebellion. Then the big one, authorizing air strikes on US citizens. They don't clarify if citizens in the states in rebellion are US citizens or not, just that they will be welcomed back upon surrender. It could be a case of air striking, domestically, a target of secessionist militias, with civilian casualties, hence air striking US citizens. Or of course it could just refer to air strikes in states in rebellion. They don't explain much, just that war is not to be desired. PS. My biggest issue with the film is the helicopter scene in the street. Nobody would ever do that, and I think the effect could've been done much better by seeing one position get obliterated by Gatling fire, and have it pan up to show the hovering harbinger of death as it fires again, and the camera moves from the helicopter above to the impact. I think that's a better illustration of the detachment of modern military machines from the devastation they cause. Okay, sorry for the long post.

Wagner Moura, who played Joel, voiced the Wolf, aka Death, in Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.

Daren

Right but that’s the only point it made until the end.. over and over again. Ok we get it, after fifty photos in different locations civil wars cause chaos and dehumanization…we needed almost two hours of the same point? It was painfully empty.

Scott Bringel

wasnt that the point…

micah

The premise of the documentary aspect of photojournalism is what made the movie watchable... otherwise you're just watching a movie about Americans killing Americans for literally no reason ever disclosed.

Lloyd S.

This reminded me to vote this November 🤣

J Knight

this was an awesome film!

earlthegoddd

🤦‍♂️ it’s literally one of the biggest critiques circulating about this movie…. Brother YOU don’t know what documentary means…. It’s also literally what they’re doing for most of the film… documenting the civil war…….

Scott Bringel

I dont think you understand what documentary means..

Bedinor

We enjoy them, but whatever you feel comfortable with!

Kaley

I for one really appreciate the thought and effort that goes into it... but obviously, whatever works best for you guys works best for all of us!

Jeff K

Just testing. Not sure if people liked it or not. If people do like it, I'll be happy to continue it 🤙😁

Badd Medicine

This movie was hot garbage. Most of it just felt like a documentary on photojournalism.

Scott Bringel

I've been waiting for an excuse to watch this movie. Finally, you guys gave me one. Let's gooooo!

earlthegoddd

I think (not sure) Yellowstone is in the list, I don't know about Narcos but after this it probably will

Alexiani Gollarza

This film is scary in that this is not far fetched from what *could* happen.

Kaley

I'm making this comment before watching your review. I liked the way you reacted to this movie, it required focus, faces of astonishment, extreme shock, all of those parts where you just watch the movie, that's what the movie causes, at least in me and for what I can see, in you. Amazing reaction guys

Alexiani Gollarza

Would be great if they reacted to Yellowstone.

Stephanie

You should watch Yellowstone. Great show. 😊

Stephanie

I haven't seen Yellowstone, but damn, they should really watch Narcos. It's so damn good.

Jeff K

I’ve just recently noticed, but have you guys decided to stop adding an episode description/reaction in these posts in general? I always enjoyed reading those.

Jeff K

watched this in imax couple months back and the sound design was nuts. Every sudden bullet made you flinch. Was an experience

blitzman08

Oak: that's the guy from Yellowstone Mason: I haven't seen Yellowstone A few minutes later... Oak and Answer: that's the guy from Narcos Mason: I've never seen Narcos Oak: *looks perplexed and almost says F word*xD

Alexiani Gollarza

Worst road trip ever lol. This movie was such an experience in the cinema. The sound design was amazing. The gun shots/ camera clicking/ helicopter blades was so loud I jumped in my seat a few times. Also Kirsten Dunst was fantastic in this! I haven't seen her in anything since Spiderman/ Marie Antoinette but her performance elevated the whole film.

Pathetic_Effort

wait...Wheres Spider-Man!!??

Cojuancidence

Loved this movie, really excited to see your guys' reactions.

Simon

Yessir exited for this one

Jerry Pocketz
