Switching Proper Places: Part 10 (FINALE)
Added 2024-07-17 09:00:02 +0000 UTCAnd here we are at last...
It's been a very long road (it feels like it anyhow) writing this story, and I'm so very pleased with how its wrapped itself up. For reference, this is twice the length of Bet On Black, and it's easily one of, if not the, longest stories I've written. But I'm glad that I paced it the way I did.
I wanted it to build up to Rory flipping the tables on Nina, and then building tension again up to this chapter here. I won't spoil what happens in the chapter, except to give a content warning.
This is probably the most violent (and quite literally bloody) chapter of anything I've posted here, so proceed with caution if you're averse to that sort of thing. It's not Friday The 13th levels of violence, but it's far from serene. If you do decide to brave it, then I hope you enjoy the ending. I worked hard on it, and I'm so glad to have finished Nina and Rory's story, as messy and fraught as it wound up being.
As for the future... A return to an old favorite, Mya Chesterfield's wedding, a high school reunion, and more!

Thank you so much for the lovely comment! It was a lot of fun getting to write a story that got into the darker side of things like this, and just as fun to give them that bit of happiness in the end. The vial on the mantle is something I had planned in particular from the very start, so I'm really glad you liked that detail!

I can definitely see the influence of the more horror side of stepford in this series with the protagonists permanently scarring each other in misguided vengeance, and I liked the detail of the vial never being drank, but kept on the mantle as a reminder.
