Fireworks (Stepfordization short story)
Added 2021-01-06 18:01:03 +0000 UTCHappy new year, everyone!
To kick off this year, I decided to go with a return to Stepford proper. A community full of happy homemakers and breadwinners, who just so happen to be completely and totally brainwashed out of their gourds. Like I've mentioned before, I sort of strayed away from Stepford last year, despite still writing Stepfordization. The town itself just didn't factor into a lot of my stories, which took place elsewhere. I'd like to change that in 2021, and dig into writing about the town of Stepford more, and how it changes people.
This story is a fair bit darker than some of my recent fare, so be warned. It deals with more concrete brainwashing, and mindless patriotism as a focus point. Hope you enjoy~

Wow, honored to have given you a little Stepfordization inspiration in return for all you've given me!

I wanted to focus less on the actual events of the transformation itself, since you did such an amazing job of that that I felt I’d just be ripping you off, but I loved the idea of a sort of planned community of soldiers turned stepfords! Stepford as a town does lend itself very well to horror, its true!

Also, I like that you’re keeping a general balance between darker stories and more consensual transformations. It’s interesting that going back to Stepford itself seems to necessitate more of a horror tone
