The Perils of Piggy Painslut pg 7
Here's a bonus page... just because. Strange layout on thus one. I think the point was to make it feel like more time was passing.

This page was the formal introduction to Naughty Nurse Natasha (a newt from Novosibirsk) and Nice Nurse Nancy the Gnu. I really enjoyed drawing Natasha, and she shows up in the background a lot. Also I'm pretty sure Nancy has a penis, although it's never come up.

Hey everybody! One of you great Patrons sent me a digital copy of the comic that inspired the recent Nanny Goat's Nursery post, "Child's Story" by Dan Lish. I won't say who in case they want to remain anonymous, but thanks! And feel free to identify yourself in the chat.
I must have read this in 2002 when it came out in Heavy Metal. I would have be just turned 19. I read MAD and Cracked religiously starting in 1989 but I gradually switched to Heavy Metal beginning around 95. Cracked is ...

This is such an innocent time in the Dick Dogdick series. I had no idea how convoluted and baroque it would become... although I guess that's true of all of my comics. There's a lot more jokes in this one than in later pages.

I'm kind of late in the week this, ugh, week....and I don't know what to post for bonus content. I was going to do a whole post of how I basically invented "hyper-messing" with influences... but I couldn't find the original comic that inspired me. Then was going to pull out one of the 3 suitcases of art in my shed but then it snowed and that's not so accessible right now.
So what I'm going to do is just post THREE pages today and try talk about them a bit, and I'll do a SUPER bonus post...

I may have started the trend of hypermessing in diaper p*rn on the internet with this comic from 2008 (seriously, try to find an earlier example.) I was heavily inspired by R. Crumb's Pete the Plumber and especially Dan Lish's "Child Story" from Heavy Metal Vol.26 No.2 of May, 2002. Apparently my copy of that issue walked off at some point in the last 20 years and never came back, and I couldn't find a digital copy online or I would have included a scan of that. It was basically t...

I started my Dirty Black Sketch book on December 19th, 2007. My original private sketchbook that I started Madame Zelda's in was full, and thank god because it was not suitable for my purposes. The new sketchbook was much nicer (albeit still cheap,) and my lines became cleaner. It was also smaller, which was convenient.
Aside from Dick Dogdick, all of the Madame Zelda's pages for almost three years are in that Sketchbook. It's definitely a trip to flip through it again. I've attached a ...

You might notice that this page is smaller than the previous ones. It's because I actually started a new smaller sketchbook by this point in the run. even though it got smaller, the line work became nicer at this point because the paper was so much better for ink.
I'm going to make a bonus post right now about it for $10+ subscribers.

Here's a bonus post for this week. My life has been pretty hectic lately. Not in the selling guns, taking copious amounts of drugs, and having weird sex kind of way that I was living when I drew this... more like in the Christmas with a toddler kind of way.
Hopefully everything will level back out and I'll be more regular with my posting schedule again.

I think this is the last Madame Zelda's page from my first secret sketchbook!

What I didn't mention on my last post is that part of the impetus for creating Dick Dogdick was that I started working in a gun store/military surplus store. We had these surplus Canadian Forces notepads and so I used to doodle characters on my lunch. I know I owe you bonus content from last week. I'll try to get another one out soon!

Here's an extra post for the holiday season.
I started Dick Dogdick for a few reasons.
For one, I had been reading a lot of Dick Tracy comics from the 30s, as well as Al Capp's parody version that existed within Lil' Abner called Fearless Fosdick. Then I started reading the actual hardboiled detective novels (I probably read 30 over a two month period,) and I got Cassell's Dictionary of Slang for Christmas that year. So I was really into the lingo.
For years, sin...

After the very Shit Hawk scene on page 4, I kinda felt like I had set the floor for the comic and I remember felling very free to explore the world more (if that makes sense.) The "Scum Entrance" was definitely inspired by the "supplicants" entrance on The Simpsons.

Shortly before starting Madame Zelda's I was working for this magazine called Upfront. Looking back it's kind of shocking that they published Charlie Black in 2006. I don't know what I was thinking.

Yes. This was an early idea that I abandoned. I always loved when MAD or Cracked did restaurant placemat parodies. Plus I really got a lot of my early drawing practice at restaurants by drawing on the placemats.
I missed the bonus post for top tier subscribers last week, so I'll post another one this week. Sorry, my kid is in daycare and he misses 1 to 3 days every week lately due to illness so I keep getting way behind.

I was definitely trying to rein in the number of panels per page at this point. You can see how I basically had already given up by the end of this page.

This is one the most extreme pages in all of Madame Zelda's. I had just started posting the comics online and I think something inside of me wanted to communicate to readers that this wasn't some quaint novelty comic for casual readers.

I looked into it, it actually came out in early 2013 which was literally only a few months after I quit Madame Zelda's. I started art school in September of 2012 and that was really when I shifted my focus. I was just coming off of giving Zelda's a full time go. It was so much work doing commissions and basically begging for donations. If Patreon had come out about a year earlier I probably would have been able to make it.
Anyway, one of schemes was t-shirts and swag. I never sold many ...

This was the second unpublished Baby Amy page from when I was first starting Madame Zelda's in my private sketchbook. I was a lot more spartan with that R. Crumb hatching style I was going for at the time.

This was another comic I was doing in my private sketchbook when I first started Madame Zelda's. This is the only one I finished but the idea was that it was Little Lulu meets Spy vs. Spy meets R. Crumb's The Brat. Basically these two (18 year old) kids would trade off pranking each other in sexually humiliating ways.

Hey Zelda-heads. A couple things to mention:
1. Thanks so much! It's cool to see Madame Zelda's taking off as fast as it has!
2. I'm thinking about switching to "subscription billing" which is apparently better. It means you get charged when you signed up and then every month on that day. I think this is how most Patreon pages work, but if you don't like this type of billing please tell me why. Also, if you get double billed let me know and I'll refund you.
3. I added a lowe...

I think Petra, and Nanny Goat's Nursery in general, was the comic I got the most requests for. I guess because the ageplay stuff is so niche.
I was heavily inspired by R. Crumb's Honeybunck Kaminski comic and well as John Water's Female Troubles. I liked the idea of the snot-nosed brat (who is of legal age) running away from home and learning a lesson.
I was also trying to cut down on the number of panels I was drawing on a page. The idea was to get down to 6 max... but I al...
