Bonus Story: The Good Wife's Guidebook

Surprise! Normally, today would be part of an off-week, with the next update coming next Wednesday (which it will, rest assured! Academia will be right on schedule!). However, I wanted to give a big thank you to everyone who is supporting my Patreon right now. Times are tough, and it means a lot, truly, that you're still reading my stories.

I let $5 and $10 patrons vote on which of four already written stories they'd like to see early, and this is the one that won! It was a close race, but all the stories that were listed will see their way onto here eventually, so don't worry.

We've been a bit scarce on behind the scenes info lately, but for this story, I have lots!

I don't know what exactly possessed me to make this one centered around a podcast, but it reuses a concept from an early series of captions I did, in which a book about the stepford lifestyle influenced a woman at a library. It also features the return of a certain hobby shop that first appeared in The Stepford Game!

The dress that Mindy wears during part 2 of the story was one I found on pinterest and, despite it not being very Stepfordy, I was instantly smitten, and knew I had to include it here.

Mindy's hairstyle by the end was also inspired by some pinterest scrolling!

I mean, who says short hair can't be girly? On the more retro side of things, we have Cece's hairstyle in part 3, which actually exists, and looks just incredible!

And of course, what would a story of mine be without some full skirts and inspiration taken from genuine articles from the 50s?

Enjoy!

Thank you for the lovely comment! I find that these references help me visualize what I’m about to write much better, and I’m happy to include them!

So glad this one won the poll! Love the concept and execution, podcasting is a fun way to bring Stepfordization into contact with modern technology & culture. Thanks for including that reference pic of Cece’s hair when she’s fully transformed — again, that style is an awesome combo of modernity and Stepford vibes!
