I love helping develop NestDrop into an expressive and experimental app for VJs. NestDrop is built around presets and so you can never have enough. Below are 2 preset packs for NestDrop!
Any time I'm feeling uninspired but still want to scratch that creative itch, I'll start up Winamp and create some preset mashups. Amazingly it still works perfectly even though it was released 22 years ago!
Golly how fast time flies, it's been 4 years since I originally released the Cream of the Crop & Isosceles Mashups 2020 packs. Last weekend I realized that I had amassed 829 new presets mashups and figured it was time to release them. The other 157 presets are some new favorites that I found over on the Milkdrop forum where there are a very small handful of people still making fresh presets.
To make it easier to quickly browse this collection of presets, I choose to not organize these presets into the typical categories that I utilized for prior releases. So is this a mixed bag? Absolutely. But I live by the motto that one person's trash is another person's treasure. So dive in and pick out the gems that speak to you.

Since launching the NestDrop for Resolume tutorial over on Sean Bowes youtube channel, it's been amazing to see the many different ways that VJs have been injecting a Spout video stream into NestDrop. I've seen it utilized to have live video of the DJ in the visuals, involving generative FX in projection mapping whole stages, and adding some extra spice on top of the VJs performance. Also it's been interesting to see VJs figure out some very clever technical setups in Resolume by using the Video Router to refine this technique into an art form. So I've coined a term for this technique: Spout Jamming.
When Spout Jamming, I've found that many of the presets are too intense and wished that I could access just the core shaders. I gave it some thought and realized that I could manually disable the "Waves" and "Shapes" layers of a preset to address this. Then I opened up the preset in a text editor and further realized that I could do a find-and-replace to automatically disable these layers for a whole collection of presets. So I collected all of the presets from the Cream of the Crop, Isosceles Mashups 2020, and Isosceles Mashups 2024 packs into a new collection with these layers disabled.
It's impossible to know how each preset will react to these tweaks since each preset is designed differently. The only way is to experiment and find out. But you'll likely find that some of these presets are trash and some are gems, but it depends on the Spout video stream that you're injecting into NestDrop.
Full transparency, I've been hesitant to release these presets since they only function when injecting a Spout video stream into NestDrop. These presets have been stripped down to their bare essentials and are meant for advanced users that understand how to use Spout Sprites within NestDrop. Hence the following warning, if you use these presets for any other purpose then they will frequently render out pure black visuals.
