Thanks for the answer. It will take him a while before he has all the age groups he would want for all his clubs, then.

2025-02-08 17:56:59 +0000 UTCCool chapter, as always ! I have a question regarding the interaction between the original panopticon perk (to unlock the women and age groups) and the multiclub panopticon perk. If Max adds Saltney with multiclub, will he have immediately the under 18's that he has unlocked with the original panopticon ? If he unlocks Chester women, will he unlock it for Saltney too ? Or does he have to unlock everything separately for every club in his multiclub portfolio ?

2025-02-08 09:26:20 +0000 UTCI know that its just business but it makes me emotional that we can't take the same team all the way to the top. But hey that's a realistic aspect that really grounds this story and that I hope- brings some great character development and emotional moments.

2025-01-01 04:20:32 +0000 UTCMagnus has shown the ability to talk Max down before (book recs, crystals) and Max trusts him enough to have him come along in the car with the Brig. Perhaps we'll see Magnus become the new Max whisperer? Or, in a fun role inversion, it could be Pascal (or Youngster and Pascal together).

2024-12-29 00:00:05 +0000 UTCI wonder how people will react to Max always talking about where to cut and stuff for the doc everytime he is on screen

2024-12-28 16:54:50 +0000 UTCSure, yeah. I just think the door analogy works better, since 'sinking' would imply them being in a bad place. Neither Dan nor Magnus would have spiraled into depression or died if Max hadn't recruited them, but he definitely did help improve their lives. I just wouldn't describe it as them sinking in quicksand or the like and needing to be pulled out. They were on stable ground before Max's intervention; that surface simply wasn't the grass of a football pitch.

2024-12-28 11:53:07 +0000 UTCI'm hoping and believing that we'll basically have just as much Henri in the story. There will be two big holes though. One - he is really the only player who can stand up to Max in the locker room when he is being unreasonable and actually (at least sometimes) get him to change his crazy perspective. Two - the massive void that will be there during next year's Christmas happening. I tear up just thinking about one of those without Henri...nevermind I veto that image. If Foquita's g/f can randomly show up to the Christmas happening, then Henri is still allowed to put it on. I won't believe differently.

2024-12-28 10:37:43 +0000 UTCDan was completely done with football when Max found him, and Magnus was more physio than physio/player. Don't forget he was also bodybuilding at the time, so it was clear he was on his way out of the game.

2024-12-28 05:47:33 +0000 UTC" . . . with Henri as the silverback to teach them how to fling poop better." Ah, Max has such a way with words. I love all of his crazy analogies—and how willing he is to just say stuff that might not be technically correct but still gets his point across. While I always enjoy seeing the team move up the table, gain points, play big matches, etc; a chapter full of purely conversations featuring Max is fantastic as well. On another note, I like how Max sees that a club he's friendly with is offering him a world class player at an (unknowing) discount, and decides that he can afford to pay them something a bit closer to what she's actually worth (even if he probably still sees it as a huge underpay). As much as his friends/girlfriend get frustrated with his penny pinching ways, it's nice that (relative) fame and fortune haven't changed him much. He still worries about everything, still blusters when he's uncomfortable, still has a bit of a temper (often shown in the form of righteous anger) and is still just a genuinely good person. He's grown as a person, sure, but the core aspects of his character that make him so relatable and likable haven't fundamentally changed. I also really enjoy that the two players that Max took a chance on when even he didn't know their potential (Dan and Magnus) are properly grateful and have fully bought in. It's just so heartwarming, and makes everything he's done feel worth it (from my perspective as a reader), even more than when Max wins a big game or the league. It would be overdramatic to say that he 'pulled them up when they were sinking,' but he definitely opened the door and pulled them through to playing professional football in a great environment, and having them be appreciative of that at the right time to ease his worries is just so rewarding. In any case, I can survive a slight delay before the next chapter, especially over the holidays. Sometimes, quality requires patience, and I can manage that . . . probably by rereading the latest few chapters once or twice a day in the meantime. P.S. I know it would be a huge stretch, but I kind of want Max to start piling up a bunch of those 'raise one stat for the season' perks and manage to gimmick his way to having a player (maybe Henri, maybe not) rise far above their original PA. As much as being able to read someone's maximum potential simplifies things, I would love to see that mandated wall crumbled, even if only for one player.

2024-12-28 02:57:29 +0000 UTCHeartbreaking to know we're seeing the last of Henri (at least as a footballer). During their callback to Kettering, I got chills remembering Max's half time talk to him. Sublime as always mate.
