This is SENSATIONAL reading. I'm going to have to re-read this a good three or four times just to get a handle on everything that's happening, as it happens. I can't say enough about how much I enjoy the storytelling device of the short videos breaking up the last two chapters. And is that a tease of Max Actual Best in goal, to stomp on the hopes and dreams of Darlington? Be still, my racing heart.

Finally have time to finish it and as always, it’s a good time! Thanks for this. I’m not sure if I’m pointing out the obvious here, but am I the only one who thought that the surprise person was Raffi? And was so disappointed that it wasn’t!

2024-02-06 11:14:47 +0000 UTCHa I got it! It can't be this season though because they can't sign a Brazilian easily. In League Two it is easy, I think. Max to South America start of book 12!!

2024-02-06 10:39:29 +0000 UTC[The level of difficulty should increase for Max over time but I'm not sure how much tactical flexibility he'll find in tier 5! More than in 6 obvs.] The two players contested for the ball. Carl literally kicked the ball at the legs of the winger. The ball then went behind the goal line, turning a dangerous situation into a simple goal kick. It's just a tiny event to show he's turned his aggression into good play instead of getting sent off.

2024-02-05 21:31:13 +0000 UTCLove these chapters with a big game all in one chapter. So Ben and Simon are not just flatmates, right?

2024-02-05 21:08:56 +0000 UTCThat was just smooth as silk, the whole way through. Really enjoyable. Next season, I'd like to see Max get pushed more on the strategy front. Right now most of the managers he plays against have pretty exploitable weaknesses - men in the wrong position, dinosauritis, etc. I want to see Max struggling against managers who can get similar results to him even without the curse. Oh, and a data person, that expected threat chapter was neat! Also, it feels like we're about due for Max to start getting noticed by the big fish in the pond. I could be wrong since I still know next to nothing about football, but Tranmere and the whole Wrexham thing seem like the sort of thing that would push Max to that level. I get the feeling that it's a very different world with much, much higher stakes, and I want to read about his steps out onto that wire as he starts getting national recognition. (If this indeed when that starts happening.) How does Max deal when the real movers and shakers start getting involved? Lastly, I don't understand what Carl did with the 'kicking it into a winger' thing.

2024-02-05 19:09:06 +0000 UTCBoris Johnson threw the biggest party this country has ever seen when half the partygoers had full-blown Covid. Okay? That's what heroism looks like. Ah ahhah ahahahahahaha
