Adopted by a Loving Queen Script

This idea was suggested by a friend on my discord server :) They've been super sweet to me and I loved the idea so I wrote it up. It's a very motherly script which I really love. Anyway, enjoy.

Adopted by a Loving Queen

Sounds needed: walking, garden

~walking sounds.

Hold, Jedidiah. Do you hear that?

~

That, there. Someone crying. It's coming from over here.

~

Shh! Look, there. On the bench.

~

No, not a child. Too old to be a child. But too young to be an adult...

~

No, goodness. You and that thousand-pound armor you're wearing will scare them. I'll go over myself.

~

Oh, please. You think I couldn't handle myself? Besides, there's no way that person could hurt me. They look half dead already, the poor thing.

~

You shut up. Don't make me reassign you to the lookout tower, Jedidiah. Shoo, go away. If you're so worried about an ambush, then go search through the bushes for the scary bad guys.

~

That's more like it.

~ walking

Hello there.

~

Woah there, little one. It's ok. I'm not going to hurt you.

~

It's ok. You can sit on the bench if you'd like. I like coming here at night sometimes because if you look right through there... no a little closer to me. Little closer. There you go. Look right there. You see it?

~

That's the light of the chapel. The stained-glass windows make those colors. But it looks like a bunch of colorful fairies, doesn't it?

~

Hmm? No, I'm not doing anything. I mean, just putting my jacket over you. You're shivering.

~

Shh, young one. I don't care if you rolled in mud before you came here. You're cold, you need it, take it.

~

So, you know that I come here to look at the lights. Why are you here?

~

Nowhere else to go? No family, friends?

~

Well then. I'll be your friend.

~

Alright, what's your name?

~

And I'm Charlotte. Now we know each other. Friends?

~

Good. Are you from the town over there?

~

Ah ok. There was a fire there last night, wasn’t there?

~

No reason. I just noticed you had some ash on your face. Here sweetheart, let me wipe some of those tears away, and see if we can’t wash some of that ash off with them. Hmm?

~

See, there’s your beautiful face. Are you hurt anywhere? Any cuts, bruises?

~

Right there, ok. That doesn’t look too bad. Let me wrap this handkerchief around it. There, how does that feel?

~

No better? I know, I’ll give it a kiss. That’ll make it better, right?

~ kiss

Can you look at me for a second? Just a quick second, look me in the eyes.

~

Did your parents die in the fire?

~

Yeah, that’s what I thought. I’m sorry.

~

I know, little one. I understand.

~

I’ve lost loved ones, too. Not in a fire, but at sea.

~

My son and my husband. My son insisted on proving himself to me and my Daniel, though he never had to. They went off to have an adventure. My husband captioned the vessel. Phillip was his first mate. It was attacked by pirates. They were drawn away from the others, and the tide drove the ship against the rocks. No survivors.

~

Yes. I miss him every day. As you will miss you family.

~

You know… no one will ever replace your family. But if you’d like, you could stay with me.

~

I have a… well, a very big house and it gets very… quiet sometimes. You’d have plenty of rooms, as many as you wanted. And servants to obey your every command. You could learn anything you’d ever want to know, military strategy, physics, piano, fencing, Latin, geography, anything you can name. And I have a lot of cooks who could make you anything you’d like to eat. I believe their latest obsession is pastries. How does that sound.

~

Yes, well… I’m afraid I didn’t have a choice on that account. It all kind of comes with my line of work.

~

Oh dear, didn’t I introduce myself properly? Queen Susan the gentle. Though, most people leave off that last bit!

~

It’s nice to meet you too, little one.

~

Yes, I’m asking you to stay with me in the castle. And…

~

Well, if you like it, maybe you’d like to stay… indefinitely.

~

It would take some paperwork, and the council would need convincing, but I would handle all that. Then you could be a part of my little family. If you’d like, that is.

~

That’s right. You’d be a member of the royal family. And, technically, next in line for the throne.

~

Leave all that to me. If you agree, we’ll work out those details when the time comes. But of course, you don’t have to agree. You could even agree to be my family, and not take the throne.

~

It’s ok. I know, it’s a lot. Don’t worry about all those decisions. I shouldn’t have dropped that all on you. I’m sorry. Don’t think about it all right now. Just think about… tonight. Think about what you want to do right now. Would you like to get a bath? Maybe get that cut looked at by a doctor? I have a personal doctor on standby. She’s really sweet. Or would you like something to eat first?

~

Yeah, that’s fine. We can sit here for a while first.

~

Is it ok if I put my arm around you?

~

Ok. Come here.

~

I know it’s hard right now. But things will get better. I promise. I’ll make it all better.

~

Hmm? Ah the lights went out in the chapel. The priests must have gone home for the night. It is getting late, after all. But that’s ok. The lights will be back tomorrow, just at dusk. They always are. We can come out and look at them, if you’d like. Just you and me.

~

Yeah. That’s how it’ll be from now on.

~

You, and me.
