Finding You Wounded Script

I simply could not find a good injured listener script, so I made one! And I wanted to make it kind of a mystery thing too, so I didn't specify what the listener is. I like how it turned out. 

I actually just published this video last night at the time I'm writing this! (I'm scheduling these posts out in advance because I'm that type of planning person :)

"Hello there...

Pause

Ok I can see you're not in the mood to talk so I'll get right down to it. I have no earthly clue what you are, but that looks like blood, and blood usually belongs inside the body, so by my brilliant deducting skills I've decided that you're hurt. And since I'm the protagonist of this story, it is my job to help. So... if I come over there, do you promise not to eat me?

Pause

Ok... I'm going to take that as a yes.

Pause

Hey, hey, it's ok. I'll move slow then. I'll move very, very slowly... ok? I'm coming very slow. It's ok... oh dear... that looks rather nasty doesn't it. What have you got wrapped about it? Is that a trap of some kind? Goodness. Who on earth would do something like this to you? Poor thing. That must hurt...

Pause

Can I come a little closer... no, ok, that's ok. That's perfectly fine, we'll take this slow. We'll take it slow. I'll just sit right here for a while, how's that? We'll go at your pace.

Pause

Can your species... talk? I'm sorry, I don't mean to sound rude I've just never seen anything like you before.

Pause

I don't know if you can't talk or if you're just not talking to me... either way is fine, of course, I'm just... curious.

Pause

I wonder what you are... you're very beautiful, if I may say so. Even all curled up in pain around that trap.

Pause

I think it would hurt less if we could untangle the ropes from around it and pull the steel teeth away. It might hurt more while we did it, but once it was done, you would feel better. It could heal.

Pause

Do you have a home I could help you back to? A cave, a hole, a treehouse or something?

Pause

No...? You can stay with me, if you'd like. I have a cottage up by the river a little way. It's small, but you're welcome to it. Not sure if you'd find it comfortable, it is very small with my furniture in it and everything, but you can try it. If you promise not to trash the place, I do hate cleaning.

Pause

Can I come a little closer now?

Pause

Hmm? I'll move a little closer... nice and slow. There we go.

Pause

Your eyes are very pretty. Have you heard that before? It's true. You can close them though, if you like. I won't move if you don't want me to. I won't touch you before you're ready. That rope is keeping you from bleeding out. We've got some time.

Pause

I'll bet it was hunters that came through here. Is that it? They chased you and scared you and you ran blindly into one of their traps. Did you scare them away from you? Or did you keep running long after they gave up chase out of pure terror?

Pause

I'm sorry. I know that doesn't mean a whole lot in your position, but I am. People can be crummy sometimes. If you like, when you're better, I could help you wreak havoc down upon them. That always makes me feel better when I'm down.

I can't tell if that was just a blink or if that meant something. Uhh... blink once then pause, then blink twice if you can understand me.

Ok, good, you can that's good. Otherwise, I'd look pretty stupid talking to some random creature out in the middle of the woods. Not that it would be a new experience, I look pretty stupid most of the time. Human things, am I right? We're not as smart as elves or noble as centaurs. We're just kind of stupid. I'll admit it! We do a lot of dumb stuff. But hey, we're still here, right? We can't be that stupid, otherwise we'd be extinct.

I've never seen anything that looks like you before. Are you an mammal or a reptile? Blink once for mammal, twice for reptile, and three for neither.

Wow, ok, wouldn't have expected that. Can you talk if you didn't have rope tangled around your mouth? Blink once for yes, twice for no.

Ok... You probably have your own way of communicating too, like a language. Right?

What kind of hunters were they, did you see? This trap looks like orc's handiwork, but it could be dwarves, they'll hunt anything. Then again, humans buy traps from both orc's and dwarves, so it could be them. Ok blink once for orcs, twice for dwarves, and three times for humans. For four times for like a mixture since sometimes they join forces.

Ah man, I'm sorry. That must have been awful. Those hunters are downright stubborn when they get their sights set on something. You're lucky I came along before they checked this trap. Who knows what they would do with something as beautiful as you.

That looks like it's really starting to hurt you... I've got a dagger here, do you think I could... Ok ok, not ok with the dagger yet, that's ok. That's perfectly ok, I'll just set it right here by your eye so you can see it, ok? It's right here. There, see that? Can you smell it, too? I'm not going to hurt you.

Do you think I could put my hand on you? Nice and easy. I won't move it, I won't grab the ropes or the trap or anything, I won't even breathe if you don't want me to. I'll just put it on gently. Is that ok?

One blink, that's yes. Did you mean yes? You're sure it's ok?

There. Do you feel that? I'm not going to hurt you. I just want to get this nasty trap off you so you can get better. Ok?

There, now you're breathing is a bit more even. Do you think I could try and pull off these ropes?

Woah, ok, that hurt. Yup, I'm sorry, I didn't know the rope had hooks in it... what kind of sick monster.

It's still loose enough to slip off ok, I'll be very gentle. I won't let it touch your skin again, ok? Alright, deep breath in. Here we go.

There, there, it's off. ok? Move around, you can move better now, right?

I'm sorry but I've got to pull the metal trap off next. That'll loosen up the ropes around your face. It... it won't feel the greatest. And when I get the teeth of the trap pried apart, you've got to pull your leg out. Can you do that?

Alright, let's get it a try. Three, two, one.

Yes! Got it. Good job, good job. Shh... it's ok. I know it hurts, but it will only last a minute. Then the pain will die down. Take a deep breath. It won't last long; it won't last long. You did so good! And you can move now, see?

Is it ok if I take a closer look at that leg? It doesn't look broken, just a little torn up, but I want to make sure.

Thank you. Hmm... yeah. It's not broken. Your skin must be tough! There's just a couple cuts, and they're not deep. Here, I have a bandage here. Hold still, buddy, this won't hurt. Promise. I'm just going to wrap it up loosly so it won't get dirty.

Ok, time to get those nasty ropes off your face.

Woah, I'm sorry I'm sorry, moved too fast. I moved too fast towards your face, that's my fault, I'm sorry. I'll just sit here for a minute.

I'm going to grab the dagger now... I'm sorry, I'm sorry, but I have to use it to cut away the ropes from your face. I don't want to risk the rope scratching an eye or anything.

There, all the ropes off. You can open your mouth now. You can yell if you want or scream or roar or anything.

Uhh you're getting a little close to me. Um what are you... please

Oh, um ok, guess that dagger's yours now then. Just we don't like the dagger. That's fine it's not like I needed that for protection anyway.

You seem to be moving alright. Does everything feel ok?

~

Yeah? Ok. You'd better be going then, in case the hunters come to check their trap. You're still welcome to come home with me, of course. I live just up the stream.
