If I Had A Million Dollars

I'd buy you a house!

Icy is good at drumming and running a gym and managing money.  After decades of painstaking planning and very hard work, she was able to buy a tiny ranch-style home with some land attached.  There she lives on the outskirts of St. Charlies with her wife Kitty, who was thus free to pursue her own lifelong dream of quitting her shabby job at the Pettery Barn and becoming a full time carer for a house full of rescue /animals/.  And yes, they all have names because this is me we're talking about.

The /dogs/ are Tick (huge elderly /mutt/), Adam (recovering abused /pit bull/), and Bernadette (/cocker spaniel/ mill survivor).  And if you get those name references you're probably old and queer like me.

The /birds/ are Ringo (/cockatiel/), Seven Of Nine (/goffin cockatoo/) and Béla Flock (/goffin cockatoo/ and recovering plucker).

The /cats/ (for we are legion) are Ziggy (ginger, paralyzed lower body, wears a diaper), Stardust (brown tabby, came declawed), Keith Moon (tuxedo), Apocalyptica (calico, called "Pocky" by Kitty), Zampa (dilute calico, blind from glaucoma), and Lawless (silver tabby).  Lawless is the most independent of the pets and is secretly Icy's favorite of the bunch; when the big boss bear takes the /dogs/ for their walks, Lawless likes to join them. 

Yes, Icy is a huge ursine living in a very small house full of small residents, but she is quite savvy and moves like a ghost!  And yes, this carnival of the /animals/ does exist in surprising harmony.  Are Icy and Kitty pet whisperers, or have they just picked up lots of tricks and tips over the years?  Maybe both!

I'm not putting "pet" in brackets.  It's a descriptive noun, not a species.  My bracketing hand is raw and bleeding.
