Wow. Thank you uncle B. I JUST LEARNED and understand way more than my pastor ever showed me. Book of knowledge opened

Pat wurst

Your analogies were on point for this one

Will Dennison

I call crossing the B string the "Warp Refraction Threshold" . Credit to Jon Finn @ Berklee and the amazing Dave Martone for teaching me that!

Dan Conley

This was a banger Uncle Ben, great approach, thank you.

Jake Raymor

Sure it helps, I will look for them, I was using the tags and it was not there. Thanks Togll

Héctor

I found the downloads for it (tabs only) here but the video is on youtube. Hope that helps

Sir TogII

Maybe your funniest video. Had me LOLing even more than usual.

Chio

Oh Dear Uncle Ben, I've been on the hunt for the 'This is Why You Suck at Guitar 18: You Don't Know the Major Scale!' lesson you mentioned in your video. However, it seems it might be too old to find on your Patreon. Have you thought about revisiting that lesson and sharing the tabs? Your content is always appreciated! Thanks, as usual. for your much appreciated lessons!

Héctor

The patterns for major and minor have been shown in other This Is Why You Suck At Guitar videos. Pretty sure Uncle Ben linked the major scale one in the about section of this one.

MrTriggerhappy

Great video Uncle Ben, thanks. Any chance we can get one in future on the anatomy of different modes and scales (i.e. the half/whole step pattern, like you've shown in other TIWYSAG videos)?

MrTriggerhappy

I like thinking of the Phrygian scale as starting on note 3 of the major scale, so the pattern is 34 5 6 71 2. That way I don’t have to memorize it as 1 b2 b3 4 5 b6 b7. Ick. Same fingerings and patterns you show here, just different mindset, less to memorize.

Michael Kintzer

Great one liners in this one, hahahaha

Paul McDermott

You bloody ripper Unc. Love the content lately mate!

Jesse Canning

Holy shit, where has this lesson been my whole life?

Nicole Frymier

Great job, UB! Looking at scales on a single string is way more helpful than I would have thought. Have you done anything previously on the modes - or other scale shapes - focusing exclusively on the single string patterns?

Chris K.

I’m a shredi knight when it comes to E Minor all over the fretboard. My teacher nailed those lessons back in the day. I could honestly see E Minor in my sleep and tell you what mode I’m in. BUT applying that freedom and creativity to other keys is where I SUCK. Help me Ben Kenobi. You’re my only hope.

Chris Wright

This was hard to watch at work cause I wanted to crack up the whole time. I feel 3 notes per string is the best method, it encompasses most of the other techniques, and you can start it on any string. Thanks to the video you did about walking up a scale I like to pick a scale at random and do all the modes up and down the neck. That way you learn the relationship between the modes more better. Ok I guess I should try to do some work now...

Samir A

Appreciate it Uncle Ben ! I will watch it after work today 🤠

Kevin Fairless

I do! My fingers can muscle memory the patterns, but my head has to get the ideas under control. Thanks Unc!

Barry Hammock

Yes! I do indeed suck at learning scales! Thank you Uncle Ben, just what the guitar Dr ordered
