Sunset Shimmer: Crumple-Horned Snorkack Chapter 9
Added 2024-10-31 22:07:50 +0000 UTCHappy Halloween, everyone! I swear the direction this chapter went wasn't planned to fit the holiday—not intentionally, at least. Actually, it wasn't planned at all. I've been using the last few chapters to really get more into planning things out, which at the very least helps me be more productive (15,000 words!) but it utterly, completely failed, here. The summaries I wrote for everything after the letters arrive were too vague, and it all ballooned into this.
On one hand, I kind of like what I wrote—I ought to, as it sure seemed a good idea at the time and it's hardly boring, I hope. On the other hand, though, I had really intended to not spend too much time with Harry and Ginny, and end the chapter with the train to Hogwarts. That... uhh... didn't happen, as you'll see when you read the chapter.
That said, it does kind of justify to me that it's the third SSCHS chapter in a row. As I've said, I've been experimenting with how I go about planning and writing things, but that's not something I'd want to be doing while trying to put together the the last arc of Sharing the Nation. I might even pick up A Spakle-ling Perfection or Equal Opportunity Ascension to break things up before I get back to it. Not sure.
Not sure if I'm going to do anything in particular for NaNoWriMo. As November starts tomorrow, that probably means no, but we'll see. As it is, between this chapter and the last, I've written almost an entire extra chapter's worth of words past my goals in the last two months, which is sure something. I might have to actually learn to condense things a bit more, at this rate...
