Happy Halloween, everyone! I swear the direction this chapter went wasn't planned to fit the holiday—not intentionally, at least. Actually, it wasn't planned at all. I've been using the last few chapters to really get more into planning things out, which at the very least helps me be more productive (15,000 words!) but it utterly, completely failed, here. Whuff. 13,000 words. I feel like I should maybe cut that down since there is a lot of talking going on, but I dunno; that's kinda what my fics are, mostly. As it is, I addressed everything I think needed addressing, skipped almost anything that could be considered a recap, and got some fun scenes and some weird scenes in along the way. i might even be able to go straight to September 1ˢᵗ for the next chapter.

Whelp; I eventually had to pick a fate for Ginny, and now it's done! 11.5k words, too. I think, given how things have been going, that the next one will be SSCHS again. Not only is this one a bit of a cliffhanger, but I'm really feeling the need to go back over Sharing the Nation, fix a few things and re-re-re-plan what I'm doing with it. SSCHS, on the other hand, is coming out much more smoothly. To be fair, though, beginnings are always easier than endings.

Now, this one was a headache—literally. It was fighting me all the way, and I haven't been feeling well for the past few days. As a result, it's only 9,630 words this time, and I'm not entirely happy with the scene of Corona and Ember talking, so that might change a little bit before I post it to fimfiction; we'll see. Wish I had something more upbeat to finish this off with, but I've got nothing, and I'm going to go lie down now. Deadlines are murder, but not writing is worse!

Ginny kind of saved this one, breaking up the usual Diagon Alley shopping trip with her exposition and shenaniganry. This one really fought me at first, but the two external POVs just fell out of my head fully formed, which will explain why Lightning Dust's section is maybe a bit longer than it really needed to be, not actually being all that important. As for the other one... well, the need for it will be obvious, I think, even if it has shades of being a recap. I'll be interested to see what people think about going this direction.

So, I'm not sure if anyone noticed, but last month's chapter wasn't charged for, which I'm told was my fault and something they were unable to fix. I've hemmed and hawed over what to do about this, and it's been a stressful month in general, so I've put off addressing it, partially because it seems kind of gauche. I feel like, if this story were ever properly edited after completion, that this chapter would probably be compressed quite a bit. Then again, for all the writing I've done, I've never been all that good at judging the proper amount of downtime between serious things, and I can't point at any one point and say it's superfluous. Maybe with the power of hindsight I'd be able to get each scene to pull double-duty though?

Oh, hey, look: Things are actually happening.

You know, one of the reasons I wanted to write a Harry Potter crossover was to practice writing things happening over a large period of time rather than account for every single moment of every day.
That is not what happened.
Still, I did manage to get to a better place by the end of the chapter and things should be going back to a more easy-going status quo of for a while. Sunset Shimmer, Tsundere Support Animal is a go.
