*** ROAD TO 100,000 SUBSCRIPTIONS ***   Animator Yoshiyuki Tomino, along with a rotating group of creators at Sunrise using the collective pseudonym Hajime Yatate, developed Mobile Suit Gundam. Originally titled Freedom Fighter Gunboy (or Gunboy), the series targeted teenage boys with a focus on the robot's gun. Early in production, freedom-themed elements were prominent, such as the White Base being "Freedom's Fortress," the Core Fighter as the "Freedom Wing," and the Gunperry as the "Freedom Cruiser." The Yatate team coined the term "Gundom" by combining "gun" with the last syllable of "freedom." Tomino later modified it to "Gundam," symbolizing a unit armed with a powerful gun capable of restraining adversaries, akin to a hydroelectric dam holding back water. Gundams in the series are typically portrayed as prototypes or limited-production models, boasting superior capabilities compared to mass-produced units.  Characteristically, Gundams are sizable, bipedal, humanoid vehicles operated by a human pilot from a cockpit located in the torso. The head serves as a camera, transmitting images back to the cockpit. The majority of protagonists in the series are Newtypes, genetically advanced humans adapted for space environments.
