March Topic vote
Added 2018-03-10 00:47:47 +0000 UTCPlease vote carefully and only once (Otherwise you'll mess up your vote on the spreadsheets I grab from patreon when I merge them with the processed patron spreadsheet.)

Yeah I think to either have Fred pick or narrow down with a third round of votes. Perhaps the top 5 from round two or something.

2018-03-13 19:04:35 +0000 UTCDamn... it IS a tie counting all processed votes that is. I already have a story for Arcee and Jack so that's first. Deku and Froppy are officially on the unfinished story list.

2018-03-13 17:24:10 +0000 UTCDoubt it. Once all the valid votes are tallied there may be a definitive winner. And if not, then both will be declared the winner and one will be put on the unfinished list to be done the month after.

2018-03-13 09:36:10 +0000 UTCI may be speaking for the Doctor, but I'd imagine having us choose the topic for him presents itself as a creative challenge, as well as just being easier. When you have limits or rules, you can make art more efficiently. The direction of the new piece is more determined, and it removes the burden of being harassed if he makes an unpopular choice.

2018-03-13 06:29:24 +0000 UTCI agree with Dragen on this. This is how Democracy works. If anything, the only change I'd like to see is an addition of "The Doctor's Prescription" every other month so that he has an opportunity to exercise his creativity without the nominating/voting process slowing down the creation portion. Just my 2 dimes.

2018-03-11 23:00:31 +0000 UTCI don't think we'd see much of a change switching nominations up to the $10 patrons since just the $20 patrons outnumber the $3 patrons, which doesn't even include the $10 ones. This is what happens with a pure democracy instead of a republic, and I'm happy with that. All voices are heard and have equal weight. The winner remains the idea with the highest amount of people wanting to see it.

2018-03-11 03:39:31 +0000 UTCI gotta say, I know it’s complicated but I would like to see a change, people are all over the place with suggestions and it ends up with to many nominations. I like the idea of Fred setting the theme of the month (plus taking a couple months for his own ideas) doing that might make it possible for more people to at least get one of their ideas made. Right now with the way things are it can be rather discouraging.

2018-03-10 20:56:19 +0000 UTCPicking within a specific range of topics is also a viable strategy. But for now the problem boils down to this: without any topic approaching anything close to a majority, that means that every month the majority of votes are spent on topics that will not make it.

2018-03-10 04:25:13 +0000 UTCAt the risk of making things more complicated, maybe the occasional "theme month" could cut down the odds of similar topics dividing up votes too much? Video game month, "recent" cartoon month, classic anime month, etc? I've noticed a few times we had things like several different Transformers suggestions dividing up the votes of Transformers fans.

2018-03-10 04:11:55 +0000 UTCI don't think there should be more steps. I think there should be fewer nominations. If nominations were limited to the $10+ patrons with votes open to $3+ patrons this would likely streamline things.

2018-03-10 03:37:01 +0000 UTCi'm also happy with the current format, but if the voting was dropped and it just became fred's choice i would be happy with that as well. (but i've also been reading GD for 25 years now, so i'm kinda biased.)

2018-03-10 02:27:01 +0000 UTCIt's already a two-step process. Introducing additional voting rounds would add time and complications. The easier thing to do would be to just get rid of the voting round with Fred just picking from the list of nominations for the idea he most likes. I'm happy enough with how things as they are though and hope for no change.

2018-03-10 02:06:48 +0000 UTCI feel like we need to do something to further narrow down the choices every month, because even with one nomination/second in the first round we still end up with a massive number of choices to vote on. It makes the final vote a bit of a mess with the winner often not achieving anything close to a majority vote in spite of garnering the most votes.

2018-03-10 01:04:28 +0000 UTCAccidentally clicked the wrong topic from what I meant to vote on before clicking on the intended. Wasn't sure how to clarify that, so posting here. My bad.
