Fun little historical quirk for our cat-shipgirl!
Historically, Cheshire represents one of the Royal Navyโs never-built 1940 "Improved County-class" heavy cruisers. These were meant to be up-gunned, better-armored successors to the earlier Counties, armed with triple 8-inch turrets, improved AA defenses, and better torpedo protection. However, by the time the plans were considered, Britain was neck-deep in World War II and shifting focus toward building ships that could be finished faster, like light cruisers and escort vessels. Cheshire and her sisters-to-be were quietly shelved.
Even though Cheshire never sailed, her design intent was to act as a heavy cruiser with battleship-tier survivabilityโwhich, if she'd been built, wouldโve made her one of the chunkiest, toughest heavy cruisers in the Royal Navy. In a way, she was a "super heavy cruiser" before the term got trendy with ships like Japan's Takao upgrades or the U.S. Alaska-class.
NOWโHMS Cheshire did exist, but she was a completely different ship from Azur Lane's Cheshire. Historically, HMS Cheshire was a passenger liner built in the 1920s for the Bibby Line, later requisitioned by the Royal Navy during World War II. She wasn't a warship designed from scratch. She was converted into an armed merchant cruiser early in the war, which basically meant bolting naval guns onto a civilian liner and sending her out for convoy escort duties.
Now, with that out of the way, is there a book that tells you what to do when your female cat-girl begins experiencing too many heat cycles and eyeing your neither-region a little too much lately?
