218: Waiting for Lemuria (to end)
Added 2023-07-29 10:00:05 +0000 UTCFritz returns to the nightmarish realm of fashy video games with a third-person action adventure called Lemuria about a discarded veteran and a perpetually underdressed Tamil spy who are fighting back against a dystopian world run by rioting workers, scheming immigrants, and shadowy international plots against the noble Lemurian ideal. It's bad, folks.
This is The Empire Never Ended, the Antifascist Amerikanski-Balkan podcast about (neo) fascist terror, the (deep) state and the alienation, nihilism and desperation produced by the capitalist system. And how to get rid of all that. Something like that...

lol yes. nothing but regrets on this ep
2023-08-21 10:36:24 +0000 UTCIt really sounds like there either is or was supposed to be a version of this game that features full penetration. The way every level seems to either end with a sex scene or be a hallway filled with naked women getting tortured by zombies sounds more like, I guess, actual porn than just normal videogame T&A. The third-person shooting is just the equivalent of the set-up with the lonely housewife calling the plumber. Although, from how Fritz is making it sound, it's more like if they made you watch an hour's worth of actual plumbing footage before the clothes start coming off.
2023-08-21 10:06:46 +0000 UTCI feel like gamers in general are susceptible to having really weird politics. Something about them being middle-class (their family has enough disposable income to buy gaming stuff for them but not enough disposable income to buy them their own slaves to entertain them) but totally alienated from society at the same time (they have no social lives and are often un(der)employed, otherwise they wouldn't have enough time to game). They don't work for a living, by definition, even the ones who have jobs of some kind, so they're completely disconnected from labor politics, but they usually aren't big fans of their own ethnicity or nation or whatever either (except maybe in some weird esoteric theoretical way that has no connection to reality). All the gamers I know (myself included) are mostly preoccupied with weird obsessions and neuroses that have nothing to do with anything. The only exception is a friend of mine who joined up with the electricians' union, which led to him going from being vaguely American libertarian "economically conservative socially liberal" to a dedicated advocate and organizer for labor and LGBTQ+ rights. Honestly his life story is, like, the Platonic image of why the right works so hard to crush organized labor. If you give workers even a little taste of dignity, it takes a ridiculous amount of propaganda to keep them from instantly turning into, like, militant communists.

2023-07-30 14:03:17 +0000 UTCI think this dude is just a certified Gamer. I'm sorry but 87% of Europeans with a Steam account, are some flavour of insane chauvinist nationalist wehraboo, the rest are anarcho-syndicalist trans catgirls living in a squat.
