Weighted blankets are a bit like being buried under an avalanche, but one that’s somehow too hot and won’t kill you, a study has revealed.
The peer-reviewed paper, released this week confirmed the hypothesis that rather than being a comforting tool against anxiety, weighted blankets are actually the devil’s bedding.
Researcher Dr. Graeme Hart explained: “Our research shows that weighted blankets are sort of like being tucked in by a caregiver who low-key hates you.”
“They tend to be used in times of high anxiety,” he continued. “When for some reason people think autistics would like to be even hotter and sweatier.”
Dr. Hart added: “These findings bring us one step closer to taking down the sinister and pervasive influence of Very Big Blanket.”
