The CPS has won a landmark legal battle against an autistic woman’s husband, whose ostentatious sneezing has been classified as a hate crime, it has been reported.
Alma Montague, 43, took the decision to report her husband for causing excessive distress with his trademark sneeze, which has been described as “unnecessary”.
Speaking after the verdict, Montague said: “Robert’s sneeze started out like a normal sneeze, but as soon as we were married he added this superfluous ‘WAHOOOOO’ noise, which has to be put on.”
“He says it just feels better that way,” she continued. “Which I’m taking to mean that he enjoys triggering my misophonia. Enjoying causing pain to others is a sign of psychopathy.”
It took a jury just 15 minutes to come back with a guilty verdict, with the judge issuing a five-year sneezing ban, a sneezing education course and an indefinite course of antihistamines.”
Montague added: “I’m sorry it’s come to this, but justice has been served today. I really can’t say any more as he’s facing further charges for his chewing noises.”
