Minor Spoilers ahead.
So when writing and setting up the strips for Being Fiona, I like to write about a half-year's worth of strips at a time. I finished my last batch back in May, which brought the strip up to about strip 290, taking a pause with Felix riding along in Jess' head as she goes through a typical day at school. I've started writing the next batch of 50 strips over the Christmas Holidays, I'm not sure how much further these next 50 or so strips will bring us in the plot, but I'm hoping it will finally get us back to and past where Fiona meets Lisa Saturday afternoon at the cafe.
But first we have to get through the rest of Friday with Jess and Felix at school, and while I had originally intended for Jess and Felix to buy some lunch while going shopping during a three hour break between classes, the introduction of Lucy means that it makes more sense for Jess to go home for lunch and then take Lucy for a walk to some dog friendly clothing shops.
Coming back to this part of the story after having written and posing it half a year ago brings some opportunities to revisit some decisions, such as Fiona looked really good in VR when her shirt was given some cleavage. The same would be true for the dress Jess wears to school, so I went back this week and revised her outfit for this sequence.
But one thing I've learned while working on this comic is that I need to do test sketches of new outfits and hairstyles before committing to them. So the last images in this update include some test drawings of Jess' new dress and a messy ponytail she puts her hair into while Felix makes her some lunch!
