Baselessly confident, Don believes he has the whole world figured out. Though he is genuinely naive enough to believe this, a lot of his bravado stems from his insecurity.
Standing in the shadow of his older brother Gonzara, Don takes their little playful struggles much more seriously than he lets on. He's acutely aware of Gonzara's history in the AR games, and feels the need to prove he is as good or better than Gon, despite the difference in age and experience.
Don still has a lot of respect for Gon, but is cautious about asking for advice, as it might damage the image of confidence he believes he has created (but most see though it pretty clearly). All of these vulnerabilities push him to joke and flex and exaggerate his capabilities to everyone.
