Hey Patrons!
Its a new year, and I'm happy to bring along with it a brand new and improved Patreon Request List!
I've mentioned a few times in recent update posts and streams that I'll soon be moving the request list to something like a spreadsheet document, as the list post has gotten so long that it started giving me immense lag when trying to edit it.
Upon hearing my plans for this, our fellow GaMetal Patron and GaMetal Discord mod TheHarDeOne stepped up and created an outstanding spreadsheet for the request list. Huge shoutouts and love to HarDe for this!
The sheet (which is linked both at the top of this post and below the rules) shows each person's list and submissions, as well as a checkbox by each song. The checked songs (which highlight green) are the ones that go up for contention in our monthly Patreon streams.
Names highlighted in blue are Patrons who have not yet had a song chosen. This is mainly to help with my handpicked request list choices (which I personally require to come from someone who has yet to have a request fulfilled).
Songs with an orange highlight have either been completed or are official in queue on the to-do list.
A red highlight indicates an unused request slot.
A quick note: Patrons who have no song chosen are currently inactive Patrons. If you are active and I don't have anything checked, please let me know ASAP!
Towards the bottom are tabs for additional sheets: Current lists the song pool for the monthly Patreon streams. Drawing randomly chooses a song from the Current list, which will replace our former use of miniwebtool.com's Random Picker app during streams. Listening chooses a random request list Patron, which we'll be using for our listening streams. Completed Requests shows all fulfilled Patron requests (note: at the time of this writing, we're still in the process of getting this up to date), and the final tab lists all previous Patrons who've had a song request chosen.
I think that covers all of the aspects of the new request list format. Another quick thank you to TheHarDeOne for putting this together for us!
As of the time of this posting (Jan 4, 2022), we've now fulfilled 193 Patron Requests, that's almost 20 albums worth of material!
I always say this every new request list post, but I have to say it again: none of this would be possible without the support I've received from you all here throughout the years, thank you so much!!
Last thing of note: the core ruleset (listed below) is still generally the same, however, I've added a few new rules to cover some technicalities that I get asked about often enough (rules 13-16).

For those new here: When my first milestone goal was reached, I set up a Patreon request list so I can knock out some of those songs I know you've been wanting. Here is how it works:
1. Your tier 3+ pledge earns you a permanent spot on this request list. This list is much higher priority than the usual requests made on Youtube comments and the like. When I am taking into account which song(s) to do next, this list will always be my first point of reference.
2. Comment here with your top 3 most wanted GaMetal songs.
3. Choices should be single songs from any game, but if you have a suggestion for a dual mix, I'm open to hearing it. Preferably no medley requests please, as these take a lot more time to produce, and I want to get to as many of your requests as possible!
4. Songs should be from an official game soundtrack. We're currently not doing anything like anime songs at this time.
5. At least one song per month will be chosen to go on our to-do list during our monthly Patreon streams (which usually take place on the 5th of each month). The song from your list that will be in contention for this will be bolded. This bolded choice is mostly based on the feel I get from the song(s), some songs just click with me and some I don't think I'd do a good job at (and I don't want to ruin one of your most wanted songs!). Other factors, such as request amount, can come into play as well.
6. An additional song will be chosen by me personally to go on the official to-do list. This hand-picked song will always come from a person who hasn't had a song chosen from their list previously.
7. I will sometimes change up the Patreon stream pick from your list each month, so if I don't pick one of the other 2 songs, don't worry, I still may switch it up later.
8. My goal is to add at least 2 songs from the request list to the song line-up each month. At least one will be chosen during the Patreon streams, while any additional songs might come from polls, fulfilling a high volume request, hand-picked by me, etc.
9. You can make changes to your list at any time. Just leave a comment with the changes you want to make or your new list.
10. The list is updated at the beginning of the month for updates and newcomers, to prepare for the drawing on the 5th. If the 5th of the month comes and I still haven't updated the list with your picks, please contact me immediately.
11. We will also be doing "Patreon Request List Listening Streams" (aiming for at least one per month) where we listen to songs from this list, both to familiarize myself and Patrons with prospective songs.
12. A note on vocal songs: songs with vocals might take me longer to produce because there's a good chance I will have to find a collaborator. Because of this added layer of time and difficulty, I'd be happy if you can also provide some non-vocal requests in your request list, but it's not required.
13. Songs must have some sort melodiousness (meaning... notes, and not just noise). As much as I'd like to cover the hit Pikmin jam Environmental Noises, I'm afraid I don't have the insects and trees required to make such a cover.
14. Songs must be possible to perform. What I mean by this is.... I simply can't do nonstop 128th notes at 200 BPM for 3 minutes lol. Rest assured: this would only apply to very, very few game songs out there.
15. No licensed song requests please (ie. Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 soundtrack). Record companies are a lot more relentless when it comes to people covering songs, especially on Youtube. (Yes, we got away with All I Want, but still lol.)
16. Requested songs should be under 5 minutes in length, any longer than that takes a lot longer to produce. However, I am open to considering songs longer than this, but please keep your other 2 requests under this time limit.
17. Our of respect for the original composers, if they are the type that prefer people do not cover/remix their material, I will refrain from doing so. Again, you can rest assured this applies to very few composers (as most are friendly towards the VGM remix community), but there are a few out there who fall into this category, which are usually well-known to fit this bill.
