2025-07-26 16:22:02 +0000 UTCThere is a HXH movie that’s like semi-canon/very not canon depending on who you ask bc people DIDNT LIKE THIS MOVIE LOL, it kind of takes place outside of the show (like many anime movies where it doesn’t affect the actual story and no one acknowledges it), it’s called Phantom Rouge, in the timeline it’s like after Yorknew city, before greed island, and people were disappointed or called it mid—I personally haven’t watched it in a while so I can’t remember if it’s worth it or not. BUT in that movie there is a famous scene where Killua (in his own sensitive mind and perception) “betrays Gon” and decides he can’t live with himself and stands in front of a train with his hunter license 🙃 Gon ends up saving him, pulling him away and it’s quite emotional, all this to say, everything portrayed about Killua is showing to the viewer OH YOURE NOT OK ABOUT GON THATS REALLY INTENSE KILLUA

2025-07-26 15:55:58 +0000 UTCAny way you cut it, Killua has STRONG feelings about Gon, vs Gon in a very him way, thinks very simply about Killua—throughout the series Killua is going THROUGH IT in his mind always worrying about his worth, if it’s right for him to stay with Gon, how to remain close with him; I don’t think it’s an unhealthy relationship but at the very least Killua is on the edge of being codependent on Gon, i could see if Gon was an actual bad person like Illumi, he could easily manipulate Killua—It is a big point in the story for Ikalgo to be friends with Killua first as you mentioned, since Killua learned how to be a friend from Gon, Killua has “friends” but none he made on his own, and importantly after being in a quite literal abusive household, Gon, his first actual friend, he sees as something very pure and good and Killua has very low self esteem so he constantly thinks he’s not worthy of love 🙃 all of this and his behaviors definitely made my gears turn, especially since I was around their age when I was first watching i was very perceptive to oh I have my friends I would die for but then THOSE intense feelings Killua described in a longing way would be something for crushes, so first watch I thought definitely romantic—at second watch NOW, it’s definitely love but whether it be platonic or romantic is up to the viewer, I don’t think HxH author was trying to break stereotypes or be open minded but I’ve found that sometimes managakas unintentionally write something so queer coded lol

2025-07-26 15:47:54 +0000 UTCKillua still gets by a lot by his Zoldyck image but every pro hunter or mentor figure is able to tell quickly that Gon is reckless and dangerous and Killua is extremely cautious and look to him to keep Gon in check

2025-07-26 15:28:08 +0000 UTCI will warn that these upcoming episodes will be a lot like this, in terms of 10 seconds actually shown to be passing but they keep cutting to everyone and it advances the plot only a little, sometimes I’d say it’s warranted, sometimes I remember getting a little annoyed which made me just binge through it lol
