Reminder that this is not Marley vs Paradis. Or not ONLY that. The rest of the world exists, it just happened that Marley held a lot of military power because they had control of Titans. It's not the gang siding with Marley, it's them trying to save the world, literally as Connie said at the end. It's just joining forces to stop Eren's intended genocide of the rest of humanity. Armin mentioned a couple episodes back -- if Eren succeeds the same thing will happen just within the small island of Paradis (that's human nature for you, I guess). But there is hope to change. Gabi and Falco are the best representatives of hope for the world -- one was on a one-track belief and hatred but was changed by exposure and experience; the other has kindness and empathy and willingness to listen and trust and believe.

2025-05-26 15:35:20 +0000 UTCIt’s very prideful (episode title very poignant) and I’ll admit very petty reason, but I couldn’t trust Eren to make this sort of decision, it’s always kinda been there but he’s been reeking of male creep energy, like reminding me too much of guys needed to be avoided, it’s not a one to one but very close to radical male too much on the internet and not interacting with people/have any healthy relationships—I think the morality of the situation of course goes beyond the construct of gender, but I can’t help my petty instinct to be like oh I need to leave this building if a guy like him is here I need to get me and my girls and go bc he might act up, radicalized toxic masculine youth who are obsessed with hating the world can be quite terrifying and comes with a bunch of fallacies and inconsistencies bc of your untrustworthy character, (the optics of Killmonger and Wakandas prospering civilization feels much different, also he wasn’t going to kill every single being outside of wakanda unlike Eren, I feel like there’s more specifics to the exact Killmonger situation that allows my brain to walk with him more so on the theoretical) ALSO my pet peeve of zealots creating a new organized religion under a single person with Floch really pissing me off: it’s going to become a who can show Eren the most devotion with FLOCH as the one in charge of that arbitrary scale (Eren is becoming god like I’ll admit ☠️ that call out command scene gives me the creeps) bc there is not follow up or follow through, it’s be one thing if there’s any vision for the future but nope It feels like he just wants to kill and doesn’t care to try to put effort into people living—in my eyes Eren could kill the rest of the world, and even if all people in paradis died in the process, Eren would still think oh job well done I still succeeded, whether it would be infighting or the case where Reiner or gabi could’ve been like a have a nuke putting this city on ransom—no way Eren would turn those titans around, I think he’s obsessed with the principle and far too detached from reality also also also I have a terrible feeling Eren has ascended into the time stream or something and gone incorporeal which UH OH you’ve lost humanity in the literal sense, again a MINORITY REPORT SITUATION IS NEVER GOOD

2025-05-25 05:19:11 +0000 UTCIt was a throwaway question from you but I think the episode tried to show that armin and gabi rode through the night while Connie and Falco stopped to rest so that's how they were able to catch up. In terms of whose side to take, I think the story is trying to say it's a mistake to view this as either being on Eren's side (i.e genocide of the rest of the world) or Marley's side (i.e genocide of Paradis). The two reasons I think so are 1) Gabi exists. To me she seems like Isayama trying to show that it doesn't matter how racist or brainwashed someone is, with dialogue and exposure to other people, they can change their ways. (now is this true in real life? Idk but Gabi's function to me is to show that it's true in the world of the story). And 2) The plan for the mini rumbling on Marley existed. Now was it perfect? No. But it would have bought Paradis time to catch up in military strength to the rest of the world, and potentially given them the opportunity for dialogue with the titans serving essentially as a nuclear deterrent. Eren choosing to essentially bring about this world's version of a nuclear apocalypse to protect Paradis is understandable (in the sense that I can see how he arrived at that conclusion) but to me it feels like he's choosing the simplest answer to a very complicated problem. And that's a very human response. I'm curious what your read on that scene between Mikasa and Louise was. I feel like Mikasa saw a bit of herself and how she idealised Eren in Louise and didn't like that, but because Mikasa as a character acts more than she speaks/inner monologues it's hard to know

2025-05-24 17:02:09 +0000 UTCI was also not sure how to feel about this reunion thing. On the other hand look at it from the perspective of the Warriors. “Eren’s gang” killed their friend, Burrito (fans’ joke of making funny variations of the spelling of BerTHolDT…), Falco’s brother died because of them helping Eren, in general Marley people lost their close ones during the attack on Liberio, so although madafaking Gabi killed Sasha, her friends from the Warrior training camp were also killed. So basically it is all as the topic of “who started the war first”, they could continue to blame each other for days and since they all (even Gabi now) feel guilty and they are aware that it all was wrong, they have the mindset of: “You are a terrible person, but so am I. This world is an awful place, but let’s try to make some good, rather than just watch other nations to suffer because of Eren’s revenge, because ultimately this just puts us to the same position, where the the other nations have been the whole time, which is trying to suppress others/us”. Although I do agree calling it: “Siding with Marley” is an insane term to say… Probably calling themselves something like Guardians of the Human Kind would be better, but we have to keep in mind Theo Magath is “pure Marleyan” (like he is not “Eldian Marleyan” like Reiner for example), so they have to pretend to be okay to call themselves this way, so he joins forces with them. Which… I have just realized… technically they haven’t joined all together yet. Like… only Hange and Levi said they are joining forces with Marley, which at that moment was Magath and Pieck. This whole new gang is just “old friends joining forces” without any specific name. But to answer your question about Hange… It is indeed weird. But considering she said she did not know what to do and she wished Erwin was there, she is truly hopeless and confused what to do, so she decided to go with the idea: “I want to do my best to save innocent people” By the way… I used to love the “Shinzō wo sasageyo” (Devote/Give your heart), but the way it is used in this arc, makes me really sad.
